snapshotmd Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I'm having a motor inspected at Riverside Marina and they're charging me $110 to look at it. I was expecting something like $65! Are they ripping me off, or is this what it cost nowadays? Quote
Super User skunked_again Posted March 7, 2009 Super User Posted March 7, 2009 sounds like 2 hours labor. probably ballpark to get a good job done. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 7, 2009 Super User Posted March 7, 2009 Some shops do it free in this area but that does not sound out of line. It will be the best money you ever spend. Quote
bass or bass ? Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 When I bought my boat it hadden't been in the water for 3 years. I found a terrific Evinrude mechanic and paid him about that much to inspect it before my first trip to the lake. Good thing I did. It needed quite a bit of work, but now is in top condition, and the inspection fee was absorbed into the servicing fee. Happy fishing. ~B.A.S.S.~N.A.F.C.~BoatU.S.~N.R.A.~A.M.A.~ Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 Thats about right, especially if they take it for a test drive, which some do. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 9, 2009 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 9, 2009 That's the hourly rate in my area. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted March 9, 2009 Super User Posted March 9, 2009 That price is in the ballpark and it's worth it. If you spend the $110 and decide not to buy due to issues with the motor, you're out $110. If you buy without the inspection and experience motor trouble later, you could be looking at thousands.
