With real frog season right around the corner for me it got me thinking about them today. I throw frogs more than any other bait in the summer when I’m fun fishing because I enjoy using them so much. I find myself having a river2sea bullywa2 tied probably 90% of the time. Once in awhile I’ll throw a spro popping frog when it’s windy or I’ll cover sparse grass with a teckel sprinker, but vast majority of the time I’m throwing the bulywa. What are your guys favorite frogs? I have tried a good amount and have a lot of confidence in the bullywa but I’d like to branch out some. I walk a frog almost all the time I’m fishing it so what I think of as a “good” frog is one that walks well generally. Let me know some recommendations you guys have.

Booyah Popping Pad Crasher and it's not even close. Cricket frog, sunburn, night train are my go to colors. I have 2 Spros because they're colors I can't get in the Popping Pad Crasher (white and orange). I have several Toadrunners too that I like other than those terrible Trokar hooks they put on them.

Ive got a huge amount of bites on the toad runners but my god does that thing have a terrible hookup ratio. I don’t know if it’s something I’m doing wrong but I hook up way more on the teckel. I have actually had some great action on roadrunners once the paddle tail got bit off, frog walks super easy.

I pulled the hooks out of a regular Padcrasher and put it on a Toadrunner and had much better luck with hooking fish. A moving bait in cover is just prone to getting missed by the fish though.

Also love the Toadrunner. Haven't had issues with the hooks, but that's good to know Padcrasher hooks are compatible!

I tried out the Savage Gear 3D Floating Skirt Frog last week and would recommend it.

My go to is the Booyah Pad Crasher. They're hard to beat. They walk really easily, they're super soft, and they're fairly reasonable price wise. There's 1 color Spro I buy because I can't get it in the Pad Crasher, and I do have a few of their King Daddy frogs as well. I've tried a lot of different frogs over the years as well, but keep coming back to the Pad Crasher.

Pad crasher are one frog that I have used and done super well on, I’m really not sure why I don’t throw it more often honestly. I like that the bullywa is a little fatter than most frogs, seems to put out a bigger disturbance while still being able to walk. That bigger profile isn’t always a good thing though so I should keep some more of the pad crashes in my box. Anyone here tried any of the teckels with the metal feet on them? Might have to throw one in my next TW order because I could see that subtle action really working well, might be similar to a soft toad but a little noisier. One other frog I want to try to get to work this year is a bigger heavier frog designed for fishing matted vegetation. R2s makes one that I’ll try, any other recommendations? I have had some success with bullywa’s on Matt’s but it doesn’t really make a big enough disturbance for it to seem very effective.

Live Target and Booyah are my favorite types of hollow belly frogs.

Pad crashed or the Black terminator walking frog in the smaller size.

There’s another one I like that I forgot about, never was a huge fan of the terminator walking frog but I’ve killed them on the terminator popping frog

I've always been a fan of Spro but my favorite was the Ish's Phat Frog.  I think he has River2Sea make frogs for him now.

Have you tried the lunkerhunt frog?

I tried one. It does get bites. Unfortunately, the legs came off on the 2nd or 3rd bite. And it filled with water quickly. I have another smaller one I haven't tried. It just sits in the box.

I'm a huge Booyah Poppin Pad Crasher and regular pad Crasher fan. I have a dedicated Frog combo and the PPC stays tied on almost all spring-fall. I have a bunch of frogs, but rarely use any others. My fist bass over 6 lbs. came on a Snagproof Original Frog.

I bought the Toadrunners over the Teckels because the hookup ratio was supposed to be better, but that hasn't been my experience with the Toadrunners at all.  I get tons of blowups, but I'm not actually sure I have ever landed a fish on a Toadrunner.

from digging through the forum, its seems the booyah PPC is very popular. I suppose ill give the regular pad crusher a try, as the PPC is no good on very thick mats is my understanding. Man, ill have to get the PPC too haha. I am just starting to get into "froggin"

I use the popping one on lilies. It doesn't dig in.

I have used the Booyah, and the LiveTarget and for durability, the Booyah wins hands down. For everything else, the LiveTarget is by far the better of the 2.  I will fish both all summer long.

I’m amazed at how many people like the booyah. I pulled out a couple today when I was going through some tackle and I forgot how light wire hooks they have for a frog. I think that was the reason I stopped throwing them. I remember bending out a hook on a frog and losing a 6+ pounder in heavy slop, thinking back on it it was a pad crasher. Frog definitely catches fish, but if I’m fishing somewhere where I have the possibility of catching a big one I’m going to grab something with better hooks.

i need to figure how to post a video. no lillies herein socal. I am not sure the other brand of frog i have besides the lunkerhunt, but its a hollow body in black. all of my frogs get caught up in this mat. I trimmed the legs to about half the body of the frog if I fold them back towards the eye. I thnk it may be too short?

Does the ribbit frog count or is that in the toad category? I like em!

Some guys will trim the legs to where they are only about 1 1/2" long, some only trim about 3/4" off. There is no set rule on length.
