It doesn't necessarily have to be Lews just because he already has one. If he's using that quality of gear, I'm sure he's aware of other stuff on the market. A Curado DC or a Tatula Elite on an Expride rod would be an incredible bass setup for a similar retail cost.

Yeah the purple is a little off putting to me but haha he might not care that much.

It's not as bad as I thought, pics don't do it justice. It's a beautiful reel. I speak from experience.

A lot of guys are brand loyal. I would think twice before buying him a different brand unless you see one or more in his arsenal.

@flipflops please dont quote me, but you are looking for 1/4 to 1oz ... and all rods are different... I would generally look for a medium heavy rod.  It would work better if you tell us exactly what rod series you are gonna pick and we tell u want you are looking... some of the particulars may vary from rod series to rod series and size to size

Looking at the G Loomis GLX which model do I need the casting worm and jig or class bass mag and then length 7'1? Choices are 6'8, 7'1 or 7'5

Most would agree that GLX is an excellent choice   :thumbsup3:

Rod length is a lot tougher though, because it tends to be a personal choice.

Though I'd prefer a 6'8" blank, the recipient might prefer 7'5".

Personally, your choices would be one of the three circles.  The one in the middle, 843c MBR would probably the most universal of choices.  But all three are sick rods

I wish someone was helping my girlfriend pick me out a GLX.

@flipflops I gotcha now... i went on bass pro and didnt see any except for 1 of the mag bass models... just go for the GlX JWR. And select 7'1 and MH.   That's gonna be the ticket.

Im gonna go ahead and hop on and ask ONE more question! He will be going to fish the Chick in July and they will be ledge fishing. I know he already has a lot of lures. But what might be a few lures I could pick up for this type of fishing?
