The last week or two, the carp seem to be everywhere. Do they spawn around this time of year or something? They're schooling and jumping all over the place.

They are spawning here. Raising quite a commotion in the shallows. Not sure what their spawning rituals are, but it seems pretty violent.

Yes, it's spawn time for carp when the water temps hit the mid-60's

Yeah, they seem pretty frisky right now and it seems to be freaking out the bass around here.

Do you know what bass do during this "event"? It seems like the bite shuts down when it's time to make baby carp.

They've fooled me before. But now I have learned to distinguish the difference in splash sound.

You need to explain to them, that 20-lb bass aren't common in this lake

So do the bass take off when the carp are getting X-rated in the shallows? Or do they just ignore the loud neighbors?

The carp muddy up the shallows, still catching bass with spinnerbaits though.

Gotta believe the bass don't pay much attention to them.

In a few weeks the eggs will hatch and the bass will target the schools of carp fry

One of the largest bass I ever caught came below a bunch of carp sucking on top . I tied on a Long A minnow and ripped it through the carp, hoping to snag one . Big ole bass hit it .

Several fish species spawn when the water temps in the area are 65-75 degrees.

Carp are egg eaters and could be raiding bass or bluegill beds or spawning or both.

The river smallies follow them around like wolves among sheep. One of the bigger ones I ever caught I was trying to snag a carp with a fat Albert and the bass grabbed it out of nowhere

I was within ear shot of a family today who were extremely upset that the big mouth bass (or as we know them, carp) were jumping all over the place, but wouldn't bite their hook...

If I would have known that fish prefer to eat hooks, I could have saved a few thousand dollars in tackle...

Yes.  They're always going crazy in the shallows in the weeks after the bass spawn.

We’re further behind here in Minnesota, but 2 weeks ago the carp were moving in packs all over the lake I was on.  I turned on my Livescope and for about 10 seconds thought I was going to hit the mother load of all bass fishing before I realized what they were...

Caught 2 small largemouth that entire morning..
