Taylormade113 Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Call me late to the game, but i have just now tried the Zman bullet weights with the small EWG hook that you can tex-pose in the Elaztic! These are a game changer! I love the Ned, for me, and for my boys, but the only issue was spending their future college tuition savings on hooks from snags and hang up losses! The thing that kept me from trying them, was i believed they would fall over due to the pointed head and thus defeat the purpose of the presentation. Nope and nope. That Elaztic is so buoyant that it stands up great! Not only that the hook up ratio is just the same with a little tweak to the hook set. This is honestly really exciting for me. I even tried them in grass and was able to drag the them along and then allow them to fall in to the holes and it worked great! If you are already using these, good for you and keep at it, if not, trust me it will change your Ned game and minimize the built in frustration of the exposed hook. 1 Quote
LCG Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 When I use exposed jig heads I am constantly getting hung up. Ever since I found a YouTube video or using a size 2 EWG hook, I have had great success with the Ned rig. Still use a 1/16oz weight for that slow fall rate. Quote
walleyecrazy Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 If I am fishing around a lot of vegetation or snags I use the lifted jigs EWG ned heads. I've had good luck with them so far. Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted May 29, 2020 Super User Posted May 29, 2020 When fishing snaggy areas I have not had many issues. Downsize the Shroomz jighead to a lighter size. Those hooks bend easy with 8lb line and a steady pull. Reel them in, bend the hook back with pliers, re-tie in necessary. 1 Quote
Hewhospeaksmuchbull Posted May 30, 2020 Posted May 30, 2020 Thanks for this, Taylormade113! I'm continuously snagged with the standard head, My problem is rocks. I was going to try Power Finesse ShroomZ Weedless, I wonder if these would be a better option? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 31, 2020 Global Moderator Posted May 31, 2020 Don't fish them on the bottom, you won't get snagged nearly as often that way regardless of how rocky it is. Quote
