Those of y'all that fish ultralight, do you have favorite places online to buy your rods? I don't trust Amazon to ship me a rod of any length and that rod arrive in the same number of pieces in which it was packed, so I'm looking for other options.

Walmart? You can just walk there and grab one you like lol.

To be serious I ordered mine from a lot of place, China, Japan, Amazon, FishUSA, tackle warehouse, etc. So far I got two broken tubes one from eBay and another from fellow member here but none damage to the rod.

Amazon is the easiest for return, claim get refund, the customer service is super good.

Are you buying spinning or baitcaster? I just got a shipment yesterday for Kuying Teton 632UL to replace my broken Tsurinoya Proflex ii. I don’t really like it and thinking of selling it. It a little bit too noodle-ish for me. It is good, light and pretty sensitive, perfect for paper thin mouth crappie.

Bass pro shop/Cabelas panfish pro series rods, light sensitive and Fuji guides and reel seats. If neither near you they do a fantastic job of packaging/shipping.

Word. I'll be getting more UL stuff because it's so fun and I really want at least one more combo. Might hit it up later on.

Where-as I sold my UL rig to a neighbor...just too light for the fishing I do. Looking at Light for my super-finesse presentations.

Thanks @ArthurLK11. I bought a cheap Lew's combo for it, then that rod broke, and I got one of their Mr. Trout rods on a warranty replacement. I like it, but now have the bait monkey whispering in my ear that we need more stuff. You know how it goes.

My ultralight rods are Ugly Stiks and they have done a great job catching me many species of fish. With that said choose the rod you like best since you will be the one fishing it.

I like to buy from FishUSA, they pack their rods very well and often have some very nice deals.  A good all arounder is the Lamiglas X11 Ultralight, available in 6', 6'6", and 7'.  They run something like $60.  If you want the ultimate ultralight, you may need to have somebody build a rod for you.  A friend of mine uses a Lamiglas Honey 6'6" 3wt set up for a spinning reel and it makes for a wonderful ultralight, probably one of the best I've handled.  He can throw tiny baits on that thing and it has more than enough backbone to handle brown trout in the 20" range.

I'm hoping to get an ugly stik gx2 light action pole and a size 1000 shimano sienna for christmas. I would think that it will be a good but cheap combo, if I get it I'll tell you if it is good or not. I hope to use it for small stream brown trout, panfish, and small bass. Edit: I just realized that this is from May, so I hope you got a good ultralight pole!

Having had Ugly Sticks in Ultra-light and Medium - I hope you can change your wish in time. There's MUCH better rods in that same price range than a Ugly. Only thing Ugly Sticks have going for them, IMO, is that they are near unbreakable.

Oh. :( It's too late to change it. Although I've like my medium ugly stik elite. What would you recommend for the future?

My personal preference in that price-range is Diawa Aird-X. I have a Medium spinning rod that is head-and-shoulders better than my old Ugly. While I've replaced the Aird-X with a Fury for the canoe, I'm keeping the Aird-X for shore fishing.

Others have suggested Berkley Shock, Lews Laser SG-1, Shimano Sellus

Nice. I'll see if I can get a Aird X next time i need a cheapish spinning pole.
