Ravox Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Hello everyone! New Florida man here (the good one lol) Used to fish my whole life saltwater and decided to do a shift after talking to many good people who fish Bass around here and i fell in love, Bass is an amazing game fish and now after reading so many posts for my questions that i looked on google i decide to create an account here not just to make my own questions but maybe to make some new friends too since is such a nice community! Coming from saltwater all I'm used to is spinning i know that for Bass baitcasting is a good deal, but Im happy what i can achieve with spinning using many types of baits. At this moment I'm fishing mostly in local lakes best thing about Florida is that you can catch fish in any water you can find LOL, and and the lake where i live right across the street is full of bass and peacock bass and I'm learning there, soon have plans to go to a big lake like the big O and rent a boat (don't have one) ,try my lucky there. Besides fishing have a passion with everything nature related (trails, camping, etc) and photography. Anyway nice to be here with you guys! Let's catch some big ol'bass Quote

Captain Phil Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Welcome! Lots of Florida bass anglers here. Sounds like you live in South Florida. I grew up in Miami. Moved to Central Florida twenty years ago. When I lived in Pembroke Pines, I lived on a canal. Whenever I fished the Glades or Lake Okeechobee I would bring bass home in my live well to put in my canal. That canal was full of huge bass. Every now and then one of the neighborhood kids would hang one about nine pounds. They once hooked a bass that was so big it scared them and they cut it off. South Florida has some of the best bass fishing most people don't know about. Quote

There are a lot more game fish in those canals than most people realize. Big snook and tarpon live there too. For years out at Holiday Park, anglers talked about a giant bass that lived in the Miami Canal. Turned out to be a 30 pound snook. :>) Quote

Tarpon and snook follow the canals and can be found miles inland. I have caught tarpon in Lake Okeechobee. Quote
