Mine was the pre-rigged Creme two hook job.

Natural night crawler with the beads and the sweet propeller up front.

My brother and I bought a pack of Creme worms at a hardware store that sold a few fishing items. We'd never heard of Texas rigging, so we threaded them onto a ball head jig. They caught fish this way, but I remember picking quite a bit of moss off of them. Learning how to rig them weedless was a HUGE turning point for us.

I don't know why we didn't start out with the pre rigged Creme worms. I remember seeing them. The unrigged  4 pack probably was cheaper.

A-jay described the early Creme Scoundrel perfectly:

During the 50s, it was the only plastic worm available in Jersey, which we referred to as 'rubber worms'.

It felt weird buying a contraption looking like that, but they outfished every plug & spoon in the tackle box.

Yes! The birth of the plastic worm. What a killer bass bait!

Mister Twister curly tail (longer than the grub but sorter than the phenom), color red, rigged weightless with an exposed hook.

We had a small dingy with an electric motor and would troll this through the boat paths in the summer when the weedbeds got high.

Used to use nightcrawlers Texas rigged and got a pack of Smitty worms, Glendale, CA, when the night crawlers got too expensive.  About 1980.  They were hand pour brown black and orange for Lake Castaic, 4".

6" Creme scoundrel in grape.  I was fishing it on a texas rig with a 1/16 oz bullet weight and a 2/0 ewg hook.

It was a 6" purple worm. Probably made by Creme or Culprit. I can't remember if it was all purple or had the red fire tail. I had both colors at the time. My dad never new about working them slowly on the bottom. He would cast and retrieve them like a crankbait and still caught quite a few on them.

I think we've got a trend going here with the Creme worms. It sure seems like a lot of us got started worm fishing with them. I might pick up a couple of packs and use them again. I'm sure they'll work as well as they always did.

See a trend with the Creme worms here?

Black Mann's jelly worm on a J95B off set hook with a 1/8 ounce bullet sinker.  I remember that first fish like it was yesterday and it was in 1979.

Now first Texas rig fish I caught was on a black Mister Twister twin tail grub . I put a black spinnerbait skirt between the sinker and worm trying to duplicate a jig  that another angler was using . He was catching them on a jig and pork frog

. I didnt have either so I duplicated it the best I could . After that it was game on .

This is the exact same rig that caught my PB years ago. 6" Mann's worm in black, lead sinker, and Eagle Claw hook. I've always liked Mann's Jelly Worms.

a Kelly pre rigged worm in reddish brown. I was shocked as it was bought maybe 10 years before, but I thought why not. As soon as it hit the water boom. I did another cast and boom again. I was pleased.
