pauldconyers Posted May 25, 2020 Author Posted May 25, 2020 Are carp known to "slap" at baits with their bodies like catfish can do? I went to a neighborhood pond last night and caught two big carp, but ended up snapping both. One on the tail and one in the middle of the back. Weird. Quote
ArthurLK11 Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 It is a silver carp. It is one of the fish that is often classified with grass carp, bighead carp, and a few others as the invasive Asian carp. Asian carp are a group of fishes rather than just one species. Quote

They're different species silver carp are Hypophthalmichthys molitrix while white amur (also known as grass carp) are Ctenopharyngodon idella. They're actually not even that closely related. 2 Quote

You need to let Missouri Conservation know where you caught that Silver carp if it was in a pond unless it's attached to a stream or river that already has them also. 1 Quote

Do they have *jurisdiction" over a private neighborhood pond? Quote
