It's sad to see how many don't understand the difference between  Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and the 4th of July......

What's really sad is how many don't care.     ☹️      jj

My neighbors are mostly new imports.  They could care less.

Peace is the real and right memorial for those who have died in war.

Yes exactly Mr. grammar policeman.  You must be busy all the time using your skills.

I have seen a split with that.  Those who have embraced America, become citizens, learned how to speak English, that group is interested in the history of our holidays.  They are all ears if you speak with them.

The other group not so much.  If America is just a place they can make some money and their loyalty is to their homeland, then there is no interest at all in our country or its cultures.  For them, America is just a means to an end.  I don't like it, but I understand it.

He's not the only one. Clear communication skills indicate clear thinking. Unclear communication skills indicate unclear thinking. That's not something to make one proud.

Or to put it another way:

There are two sorts of people in this world; one kind criticizes you to pull you up a level and make you better, and another kind criticizes you to drag you down a level. Everyone has a choice. They can be whichever they want.      jj

Not sensitive,  just intolerant of people thinking they have to correct everyone else.  Making a suggestion is different than making subtle criticisms.  I don't think you will sleep much if that is a pet peeve. There is not a site on the internet where grammar is always correct, maybe you should start one.  You would be solving a major problem.

But actually, maybe you could join a bass fishing site and go fishing and relax a bit.

As far as my neighbors, well you will just have to take my word for it because at this point your opinion doesn't mean shipwax to me.  Carry on Mr. Peeve.

I'd say you hit that nail right on the head.      jj

Obvious trolling the internet is more your style. Why you joined a site where trolling for fish might be more enjoyable I don't know.

And now I'm ignorant, but you are not ignorant of what is going on in my neighborhood?  Wow, I wish I was clairvoyant.

Nothing more than a troll handing out opinions as facts.  Go on I won't participate any further in your game.

I bet you can't resist adding more.

Hey @flyfisher! You know you're being baited, don't you? This person is setting you up. He needs to validate his combative techniques, which will increase his ideas of self-worth.

   Always remember three things :

   1) Everyone sees the world through their own eyes. That means they expect people to be the same as they are. Thieves think everyone is trying to steal from them. Liars think everyone is lying to them. People who are abusive expect others to be abusive.

   2) Just because a dog barks, doesn't mean you need to bark back.

   3) Never wrestle a pig. You just get dirty and the pig loves the attention.

Too bad this had to happen in a thread commemorating those who died so that the freedom exemplified by America could be available to everyone, everywhere, and not perish from the earth.          jj

you are right that this isn't the place for this type of banter.  As far as him baiting, yeah i know, I was just having some fun messing with him because it was pretty easy to get him riled up lol
