Will10159 Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 I am mainly a bass angler but I fish inshore and pier fish a lot and I have great reels but I want something nice. I use the Penn Pursuit 3 as it is the battle/fierce but mainly graphite. Penn dropped a new reel called the Clash 2 and it looks very nice, and most importantly durable. It might be the best inshore reel on the market. Does anyone have any suggestions for inshore reels? Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted May 23, 2020 Super User Posted May 23, 2020 For under $250 fresh or salt, I'd recommend the Daiwa BG. I've used a bunch of reels in that price range and unless you're specifically trying to save weight, the BG performs as well as anything. 1 Quote
camman Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 Another vote for the Daiwa BGs. Have a bunch from 3000 to 5000 and they are all beasts Quote
crypt Posted May 23, 2020 Posted May 23, 2020 all of my spinning reels are Penns,I fish a lot in Mosquito Lagoon and have never had a problem with one.I use the older ssg models 420's 430's and 440's love em. the 420 and 430 models are my bass reels. 1 Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 23, 2020 Super User Posted May 23, 2020 To me, depends a bit on technique. For my inshore fishing where I target trout and reds, my 3000 Stradics do all I need them to do. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted May 24, 2020 Super User Posted May 24, 2020 For inshore fishing I use Penn and Shimano reels. Have a couple Penn reels that are over 30 years old and they work great. 1 Quote
wet_dream Posted May 24, 2020 Posted May 24, 2020 Huge fan of Shimano Stradics. The 3000 size is my go-to for the kayak. I have a 5K for heavier applications. The Daiwa Saltist Back Bay is pretty nice too and can be had for about $150-$160 if you shop online. But I prefer the Stradics. Quote
