Thought I was the only one on earth rocking a gl popping rod for bass.

I use a imx pr8400s, daiwa tatula 3000, 10# powerpro

Nope. I also use a old GL2 PR844C for my crankbait/topwater rod. I love it.

Nothing puts finesse gear to the test like Smallmouth Bass. My medium light Lew’s Carbon Fire Speed Stick and size 200 Lew’s Carbon Fire Speed Spin were up to the challenge. Got this guy on a finesse worm and 8lb line.

I did not think a ML rod could have too stiff of a tip lol I also don’t have much experience with ML rods.

I am like you.  My one experience with ML rods is an old, old, old Berkley Lightning.  No problem with small treble lures.  I've always assumed if a rod loaded well with a true 1/8 oz., then it shouldn't be too stiff for treble lures.

I now have a few more ML rods, but have only been out with each once or twice just to try them.  So no way can I say what they are capable of.  I really need to find a job in an area with good fishing.

The combo I use for bitsy bug jigs and ned rigs, when I'm in my kayak is my favorite.  6'6" Fenwick HMG and a size 25 Quantum Smoke.

I don't do a lot of finesse fishing with really light tackle.  My spinning rig is a size 30 Pflueger president on a 7' BPS micro lite rod.  Not an expensive rig, but the rod is great for small crankbaits, and inline spinners.

Medium Light Dobyns Extreme HP 702c + SLX MGL 70

Medium Light Dobyns Fury 702sf + Daiwa Revros LT 2000

My favorite was those two above, but I'm currently building an NFC X-Ray MB-733, which is a Med-Light, with G2 Carbon Split Grip Handle and Fuji Titanium SiC Guides, paired with a Shimano Vanford that I just received in the mail today from the TW BF sale.

My current finesse rig is a Pflueger President-25 on a Dobyns Fury 702SF.

This coming year, I'm adding an ultra-finesse rig - Mitchell Avocet RZT-1000 on a Diawa Procyon L/F - the old President-20 on an ultra-light rod was just too light.
