I do not fish a t-rig with much confidence, but I fish it just like a jig. Maybe thats why. What have you learned thats different?

Jigs just do not click for me.  I tie one on all the time - bottom jigs, swim jigs.  I get fish occasionally but more often than not I catch a lot more every other way.

You'll probably never find me without a jig tied on, but I seem to be using it a little less. In cover, it's my weapon of choice but out on open/rocky banks the lowly Carolina Rig or Crankbaits get most of the work.

You are not alone!! How many times have I heard "The most exciting way to catch bass is on a topwater bait!"

The light turned on for me three years ago.  I don't remember exactly when it clicked, but now whenever I grab my jig rod, I can't believe it took me so long to give jigs more work.

I just spent 3 hours throwing jigs.  Lost 2 jigs to snags and caught 1 small bass.  As expected.

I didn't mention that I lost 3 jigs yesterday but I attribute that to the learning curve and developing a "touch"

That's a good day for me sometimes.  Lol.   It happens.  Use the same gear long enough and you learn to interpret what your jig is sitting on.  Last week I lost 4 jigs on 4 back to back pitches.  Dang shame, 2 of the jigs have been in my box for  2 years, caught a boat load of fish,  been repainted and re tied a handful of times.  It just happens

Those first jig fish are special for most of us. It's like your first fish on a t rig. You feel.like you've accomplished something, and taken your fishing to a new level.

To those losing jigs, have you tried a lure retriever to get them back? 

 

I just really started using jigs with more frequency about 4 years ago and still need to use them more. I always have at least one rod in the yak with a jig tied on it.

It’s a special moment, when you’ve done some reading, and watched some videos. Then bought a couple quality jigs. Then finally Made that cast to the lay down, tried to keep a semi slack line. Remained focused the hole time. All of a sudden that thunk rings through your hole body. Yeah, that was a cool day.

My uncle is another one who struggles with  a jig . I believe its just a mental thing .I'm catching them , hes not.  Just fish it like  a Texas rig . The bites feel the same . If the bass are not hitting it , dont force it , switch , but if you can fish a Texas rig , you can fish a jig .
