Way north bass guy Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 This winter I picked up several packs of Berkley powerbait power swimmers, as I was getting low on the strike king rage swimmers I’ve been using the last few years and needed some more. I’ve been a huge fan of all things Powerbait for years, son I thought I’d get these to test them out and see if I liked them as much as the rage swimmers. Well, I now have a new favourite swimbait for the season. This weekend, I was out on two different occasions for pike ( our bass season isn’t open yet so any we catch have to be immediately released, so no pics of them), and my son and I caught a bunch of pike, quite a few big smallmouths and even a few rainbow trout on them and I’m impressed. I was using the 4.3” size in Sungill colour, and my son had a 3.8” size in Tennessee Shad, we both had them threaded on Owner ball head jigs in 1/4 and 3/8 oz. I used the same bait all weekend on that rod, and I got 10 pike, at least 15 decent smallmouth and a rainbow all in that one bait, with barely even any tooth rash around the head end of the bait. They are VERY durable, didn’t even once have to adjust the bait on the jig ( I find the rage swimmers need to be adjusted often, as they start to slip off once you catch a fish or two on them), and the action in my opinion was almost exactly like the rage swimmers. There’s also the added advantage of Powerbait scent in them, which I believe may help, even if it means one more fish a day holds on to the bait just a hair longer for you to get a hookset in. If anyone’s looking for a good, durable boot tail swimbait, I’d definitely say these are worth a try. 7 Quote

Steveo-1969 Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Thank you for the review. Small paddletails are one of my confidence baits and I'm always looking for new ones to try. Quote
Way north bass guy Posted May 23, 2020 Author Posted May 23, 2020 Update: I finally had to change baits today, but only after catching another 36” and 40” pike on the same bait I used before! These things are pretty durable, I caught probably almost 300” of pike on one bait before I had to replace it. 1 Quote
Finessegenics Posted May 27, 2020 Posted May 27, 2020 Saw your review a few days ago and decided to pick some up myself today, since you rated them so highly. I got two packs of the 4.3, in Tennessee Shad and Electric Blue Charteuse. My only gripe is these are labeled as power bait but both packs have a strong plasticy chemical smell instead of that powerbait I was expecting. And call me crazy but I gave them a quick lick and they definitely didn’t taste salty a bit embarrassing to admit but hey. Quote
