Just finishing my second cup and wanted to BS.  This has been a unique start to a year of fishing.  Having acquired brain cancer things don't always fall into place.  I'm actually smiling at this...is what it is....right.

This weekend I lost my third rod while fishing this spring.  Now my total is three...two broke and one over the side....OMG...hope it slows down....I have acquired quite a selection over the years but sheeesh.....

With the vision I've kicked one over....lost a tip yesterday to a buddy's power pole....errrrrr and third one just pulling line out.  Kinda crazy....this is a new road...but it's all good and I am smiling now and wonder what adventures are ahead.  Alternative is no fishing......NOT till hands folded over chest and cover with dirt.

You all be blessed...tight lines

It's amazing how a great attitude can alter unfortunate situations.

Keep smiling and stay strong, it's inspiring.

I've taken to cutting short sections of pole noodles and taping them to the butt of my rods when I'm in my kayak so if I flip, they'll float. Maybe something to consider. It's a <$5 solution to save hundreds of dollars.

Pool noodle your net too.  Nets are getting expensive, especially rubber coated.

Best wishes sent your way Oregon Native.

At least you have a good excuse for losing and breaking gear. I'm just a klutz.

I kind of wonder if I had more rides if I'd sacrifice more!!  This vision thing is crazy.

Good luck and hopefully no more broken rods for us.

I'm not sure what you mean by rides, but if you mean you can't drive - Uber!

There's a lake here that has no parking at all nearby, so I call an Uber and have them drop me off right at the water. No parking tickets, no hiking up the road two miles. I'm not normally an Uber kind of guy but for fishing I'll do whatever it takes.

Also, since you feel like BSing, did you fish in Oregon, and if so is there any decent bass fishing near Salem? My sister lives there and I thought about moving there, but not if the bass fishing is bad. Weather is already iffy for me. I know there are other species to fish there and it's an awesome area for that.

I'm also afraid it's a little too much like California there, except for the fishing since we have some top bass fisheries here.

Gosh....family is important but having lived in Oregon for sixty years my wife and I will probably not move back good Lord willing.  It is like California....WThere is lots of all kinds of fishing...bank fishing too...but ...but...just don't want to open cans of worms but I thank the good Lord I live in Tennessee now.  Willamette and Columbia have amazing bank fishing.  Since I got the stage 4 brain cancer mama has limited me on my journeys.  I'm getting out once or twice a week but I hate imposing....crazy life right now....one day at time.

I haven’t put a hook near anything taking or breaking a rod, so you’re doing something right.

Thanks man. Ya it seems a bit too much like Cali. Governor is even Jerry Browns sister, so hmmmm.

I have to move soon and my choices are Cali near the Delta again (and many good lakes too), or be nearer some of my family in Salem, where like you said, there is great fishing for many species.

I'd like to move away from the west coast but it's hard to be that far from family. Well it seems like it would be.

Thanks for the response :)

I'm going to Salem in 2 weeks to visit my sister and check it out. Gonna bring a telescopic rod (I'm flying so don't know about taking two-piece rods) I have and maybe use a rod she has as well.

I'm not looking at jobs or places to live, just fishing ;)  If I like what I see THEN we'll talk homes and all that other trivial stuff!

Thanks for the advice on a fishing spot. She doesn't fish so I'm on my own in that regard. Should be fun if the weather cooperates. Big "if" though.

After leaving the cancer Doc and receiving  news that the brain tumor is actually shrinking right now...crazy...wify and I are smiling right now.  The adventure continues...yes.

Went fishing last night..was very unsteady I guess....tripped in boat...and yes another rod goes down....I'm just smiling....I didn't go over or break anything "except another rod".  OMG.

So glad I've got a bunch....son's just not going to get as many!!

Could be sitting in a chair three or four days after treatments but !@#$great life that would be....so.

You all be blessed...I am.

P.S.  Just hit the wrong key and don't know how to fix...please excuse the mistakes....

There's things worth a broken rod, I'd say news of shrinkage would be near the top.

Here my 2nd broken rod of the year, butt end snapped on a basically vertical hook set in 20 FOW.IMG_6928.JPG.a36416c00cdf55d959dce03ceedcc863.JPG

What a week...OMG.  Two chemo treatments...my good friend from Idaho came out for two days to visit and fish, golfed this eve with the wife and made her proud with a birdie putt at couples golf .  Was such a treat and ....well...I'm humbled to say the least.  Strength is pretty good still...made it through a very busy week.

I believe it was Thursday he got to experience his first real Thunderstorm.  Could hardly see your hand in from of your face from the downpour. We were down the lake when it hit....Oh ...I'm just smiling....was awesome.  Then it was sunshine and lollipops and off to dry out with BBQ.

Oh...and guess what....another funny...rod number five bit the dust...he felt so bad...I was smiling again.  Funny how things are wearing out about the same time as myself...others don't think its so funny but....hey....is what it is and now I'm doing good and can smile and waiting for a new adventure.

Well...off to get a second cup and read more "BR"....tight lines all.

FIVE rods now ? If you keep on your going to win in this broken rod contest we’re having . Im still at 3 , but the year is still young.

Im glad you’re friend could come visit. Got to have lunch with my best friend  yesterday- just an hour does a lot.

As for golf - I played once and never got invited back , maybe because I lost so many balls then laughed throughout the whole game at my miscues.
Thanks for the positivity- I had a very rough day at work yesterday  but  you remind me to look up and let go.

I looked at what I said and gave it some more thought...hope didn't offend anyone or confuse and don't want any cash or anything...I'm blessed and these little bumps of life are just flat entertaining to a degree.  Just the fact of the matter is I do quite a bit of sitting due to life's bumps and when I do check the news I kind of shake my head and feel so sorry for upcoming evens.....from fishing to anything out doors.  Changing so much and the fix's are....well....I wish you all the the very best so much.

Whew...feel better...you all go get that tug.....
