.zoso Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I mostly bank fish but plan to get a kayak soon. Looking for a solid all around rod to pair with my 6:8:1. Any suggestions for the best casting rod around the hundred dollar range? Quote
Super User MN Fisher Posted May 18, 2020 Super User Posted May 18, 2020 Dobyns Fury - I have the 705CB (crankbait) and it's a great rod...little over that $100 mark, but well worth it. Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted May 18, 2020 Super User Posted May 18, 2020 Also, check out the Diawa Tatula XT rods, $99.00 to 109.00. Very light, good action. I have a few and they fish above their price point. 1 Quote
Ogandrews Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Dobyns fury, Shimano slx, and the st croix bass x are all great rods. Each one has models that stand out at that price point. Quote

Hook2Jaw Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 The Daiwa Tatula XT at 80 dollars on sportsmanoutfitters.com. I own three, and plan on adding another. Quote
Super User Teal Posted May 18, 2020 Super User Posted May 18, 2020 Another vote for the daiwa xt. If you can swing an extra 10 bucks, you can get the regular tatula that retails for 159, sportsman's has them 109. 1 Quote
ckherring92 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 The new Phenix Maxim series is out and is pretty great for the money. i believe they run from 100-110 depending on the model. i have the older maxim but the new ones are even nicer if your looking to spend 120+ then i would also highely recommend a dobyns fury Quote
NOC 1 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I'd put the Falcon Bucoo up against any of the rods named so far. List is around $129 but they fish more like $200+ The Falcon Jason Christie models are a bit cheaper but still very good The Falcon Lowrider is only about $70 but is a much more sensitive rod than most any Dobyns, St. Croix Mojo or Premier, or most Abu and Diawa rods under about $200. Falcons don't get much love around here, but they make a very excellent no-BS rod and they all fish way above their price point, and they are all smooth and light. 2 Quote
Michigander Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 These are pretty awesome: https://m.tackledirect.com/abu-garcia-vdtcltd70-5-vendetta-winn-grip-casting-rod.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5Ij2BRBdEiwA0Frc9cQJmTGwf6OPHuqOiiNYOaUlkmoHdx4JuNpwRGDXnPcBb44W3si1HhoCaNkQAvD_BwE 1 Quote
LCG Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Berkley lightning rod Fenwick HMG BPS Carbonite 2.0 St Croix premiere or bass x Hear good things about.. Dobyns fury Quote
Super User Bird Posted May 18, 2020 Super User Posted May 18, 2020 I'd also put the Lews tournament speed stick in the mix. Quote
jtharris3 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I’m a big fan of the BPS Carbonlite 2.0 rods. You can find them on sale at the $100 mark quite often. To be honest, I like the Carbonlites better than my St. Croix Mojo Bass rods! Quote
suzuki2903 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Lews carbon fire- has Winn grip lews tp1 - has Winn grip denali attax series of rods - Winn grip and can be ordered through dicks with free shipping. Find a coupon and you can get them cheaper Quote
AmmoGuy Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I just picked up a Diawa Tatula, and it is a stunning rod. Haven’t fished it yet, but they have a pretty strong reputation around here. Quote
stkbassn Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I recently picked up an Ark Lancer Pro, 7'2 MH-M and I have to say for an all around rod its been pretty amazing for $99. Can't say a bad word about it. Quote

I decided to try it and I'm definitely going to order another one. The Lancer Pro is light, and it's not flashy at all. Very clean look and balances so well with my Curado 200. I love it. Quote
