Enjoy! 3 around finger means 6 "layers" of the leader. That is not a small knot, it's bigger than a double uni, so won't work with some leader/braid/guide combinations. I've made the Alberto work and it's a much smaller knot than this one. thanks, but no thanks. Quote

Some tarpon fishing buddies turned me on to it. They've been known to pull a little bit ? Being born and raised in Maryland, I know Lefty Kreh. Well, not like I knew him personally lol. Yet I never saw this know before. I was in the Army, not the Navy. I stink at knots. That one is easy-peasy to tie! Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 24, 2020 Author Super User Posted May 24, 2020 Thanks for sharing. I will give that knot a try, too. Anything to make fishing easier and faster is good for us all. Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted May 25, 2020 Super User Posted May 25, 2020 Setting up a spinning rod and going to try braid with a fluoro leader. As the purpose of a fluoro (or mono) leader is for visibility, what’s the preferred length? 6’? 12’? Getting a Daiwa Revros LT2500-XH. What do you recommend for sizes of braid and fluoro leader for casting soft plastics? Quote
Maggiesmaster Posted May 25, 2020 Posted May 25, 2020 I’ve started using yellow braid with a 6’ mono leader. First used the Alberto knot, as it holds great and is easy to tie. However, I’ve started using the Shin knot, because it (if tied correctly!) gives only one layer of wrapped line, and seems smoother when the knot goes through the guides. I try to cut both lines as closely as I can, and put a drop of smoothed superglue on the knot to (hopefully) make it travel smoother. It seems to hold ok. I’m open to any suggestions, though! 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted May 31, 2020 Super User Posted May 31, 2020 My rod doesn’t get here until Friday, but I cut off some 20# braid and 8# leader to practice knot tying. I tied that Lefty Kreh knot in about ten seconds, and to me, it ended up pretty small in diameter. Quite smaller than I expected. After tying I pulled on both ends after cutting the tag ends off and it appeared pretty stout. Does anyone have any experience using this knot while fishing? True real-world pros and cons? Even someone who stinks at knots (me!) can tie this Lefty Kreh knot without thinking about it. Quote
