I read something about Dobyns selling refurb and demo rods, do any other rod companies do this?

I have a St. Croix that was made for someone else that I got for $100 off, just has another persons name on it, but the fish don't know that. They do refurbs too, but it's in store only to my knowledge.

The st croix factory store has b-stocks which are factory blemishes sold 30% off. They also have c-stocks which are rods returned under warranty which have the tip broken off and they stick a new top guide on and sell them real cheap. Those are just thrown in a bucket and youve got to measure them to see how much theyre missing. They also scratch off the label on the blank so you cant try to return it as your own for a new rod. As far as i know they dont have demo rods, or fully repaired rods available.

Ive seen multiple people recommend getting a demo Loomis NRX at a discounted price.

Most of the manufacturers offer demo or sample rods after trade shows. They takes hundreds of rods to ICast and the bassmaster classic. They can't be sold as new because they have been handled all week. I've bought rods for almost 50% off that still had plastic on the cork.

The Tackle Trap has St Croix and Daiwa rods that are dealer rep samples and dealer demos that they sell online.

I bought one of these, a Legend X. Saved about $100 and it still had the tags on it, still carries the factory warranty.

Who knows but https://www.sierra.com/ also carries seconds. Keep in mind no warranties exist with these rods.

The St Croix rods from them actually have a 1 year warranty, I’m not sure about the other brands.

That Sierra site had some nice rods on it.
