Sounds similar to what you can expect to catch in the Everglades with the exception that you might get a 4-5 pound or better bass in the mix. You can expect to catch a bunch of other native and exotic species of fish while bass fishing which is a huge plus for me.

I expect to get a 4 or bigger fish every time out, most are 14 to 17 inches .

Tell us about your spinnerbaits.

I use 1/2 ounce almost exclusively simply because I cast that size the most accurately . I pour my own and like a 4.5 main willow and a 2 Colorado. Lately The main blade has been gold and the Colorado copper simply  because I ran out of the others . That combo with a greyish skirt has been real effective .

Thank you!

No plastic trailer or trailer hook?

No .

I'm not a good caster and need all the help I can get . So when I'm making short tosses into cover I'm just a better fisherman with a half ounce bait .

Well that begs the question, how do you catch 1000 bass without accidentally becoming very accurate at casting? I think you're sandbagging ........

I’d have to fish from a bass boat, in a kiddie pool, using a fish finder, and throwing a 100-hooked Alabama rig to catch that many bass in a season.

You’re almost part of “The 2K Club” ? lol.

Bite has slowed down a bunch here with the start of turnover and strong cold fronts...and the crappie bite picking up (love fall crappie fishing). Sitting on 2,107 after adding just 2 fish today :dontknow:

Going to fall well short of last time I kept track, but I also didn't go to any dink factories trying to run the numbers up. It has been a good year and I'll be well over 2k by the time it's over anyway.

Slacker........

my numbers are way lower than anyone who keeps track if I had to imagine. I usually fish after work and 5-6 fish is a good day.

My last day I got into a school and caught 76 bass . 52 from  one spot . Lots of fifteen inch keepers . A 6 lber was the biggest and  a three lber was second  . Most of the fish are in the 13 to 16 inch range . If I had hit this spot earlier in the day I may have hit 100 . The depth finder was loaded with spaghetti shaped fish signals . I should have taken a photo of it just to show what a school of active bass look like .

LOZ , I dont expect to catch a lot , I never have  but I'm hitting it when I expect some bass will be active shallow .   I plan on fishing it my way   and leave the spinning rods in the locker .

My best year that I have numbers for was in 2011 when I recorded catch logs for Ned Kehde’s Midwest Finesse stuff in In-Fisherman. That was 2,305, and I imagine I’ll end up close to that figure depending on how much crappie fishing I do this fall.

In-Fish 2011 story

The only other stat I kept track of this year beside raw numbers was size related, how many bass over 3lbs. to compare with a friend who also tracked similar last year and again this year (to determine how poor/tough our fisheries have become in this state). Floating around 96% or more under 3 lbs for me. In our best lakes that number pushes 10 percent, but the statewide average is only around 2%, and many lakes they shock don’t produce any.

Sounds a lot like our lakes...majority of the bass we catch are 12”-17” with the occasional good one thrown in the mix (usually closer to 4lbs here, not 6 ? ).

I only have two memorable numbers:

Best single day: 78 bass on a BassResource Roadtrip at Pickwick after a flood.

Best year:  52 smallmouth 5lbs or better.

A 5lb smallie is almost unheard of in IN, as our state record is just over 7lb., so we’re now seeing a bunch of our guys making regular trips to Erie/St. Clair throughout the year  (under a 4 hr trip one way) because the big smallie fishing (4Lb+ fish) is so good. It will spoil an IN angler quick. A good bunch have even switched over to the Michigan Div BFLs because the fishing is just so much better than here.

Well, given the size of my to-do list over the next couple months, I very likely had my final outing of the year last week. Certainly my last kayak trip -- a 3-hour excursion wed morning produced one (1) 3.10# largemouth on a spinnerbait...and that was all. This was a down year in terms of both time spent fishing and catch rate, but even so, I don't fish nearly as often, for as long, or catch as many as many of you.

My records show 31 trips outside the house to fish to 22 different bodies of water, four of which were new to me this year. 15 natural lakes, 3 impoundments, 2 free-flowing river sections, 1 river bayou, and 1 gravel pit.

I fished a total 123.41 hours, for an average of 3.98 hours at a time.  I caught 232 bass, including 209 largemouth and 23 smallmouth, for a rate of 1.88 bass/hour fishing. I was skunked twice.

By lure, the senko (or other stickworm) takes the crown:

76 Senko

24 Buzzbait or Whopper Plopper

20 Hula Grub

17 Other topwater plugs (e.g., Propbait, Popper, walker)

17 Bladed jig

16 Paddletail swimbait

15 Jig

13 Finesse worm

12 Spinnerbait

6 jerkbait

5 ribbontail worm

5 ned rig

4 other misc. plastics (e.g. creature, grub, fluke)

1 frog

1 hair jig

My most common by-catch species were pike and rock bass as usual, and also had some warmouth, crappie, bluegill, and one big drum (my first in a long while).

I need to keep a tally next year, I'm curious how many I catch in a year. Also be curious to see what the keeper to non-keeper ratio is.
