Super User ChrisD46 Posted May 15, 2020 Super User Posted May 15, 2020 Curious what your current favorite mono or co-poly line for top water poppers , spooks , twitch baits , etc. ? ... I currently have a bait cast reel spooled up with Yozuri Hybrid #12 lb. line but unsure if it is suitable or not for top water due to the FC coating which could possibly make the line sink ? Otherwise , the Yozuri Hybrid #12 lb. line is a decent all - around line (just not sure for top water) . Thanks in advance for replies ! Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted May 15, 2020 Super User Posted May 15, 2020 That’s what I use too... Quote

Thanks in advance for replies ! 1) YZH isn't coated with FC, the FC and nylon are 'intermixed' throughout the diameter of the line...that's what makes it unique among copoly lines. 2) 12# YZH is what I use on two of my BCs, one for top/shallow water lures (Spooks, Poppers, WP-90s, Wakebaits). It'll be fine. Quote
Hulkster Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Sufix Siege guy here. I use it for everything 1 Quote
Smalls Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 I'm really interested in the new topwater specific copoly from P Line. I meant to add a spool to my last TW order. Quote
Super User Teal Posted May 15, 2020 Super User Posted May 15, 2020 Past year or so I've simplified everything. One of the measures I took is only buying 2 spools of mono. I got a big spool of 8lb big game and some 12 lb big game. I have some 20 already but hardly ever use it. Everything else is just braid. With the exception if a few rods with floro. I may still have some sunline supernatural and suffix seige... they are good lines but once they are gone, they are gone. Quote
craww Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Used 12lb YZH for topwater fishing since approx 2004...Its great for long distance topwater fishing...Hair less spongey feeling than alot of popular monos when walking baits. Wish they made something between 12lb and 15lb’s dramatic diameter jump. Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted May 15, 2020 Super User Posted May 15, 2020 For topwater, spooks, poppers, buzzbaits etc, I've used Big Game for many years. No need to change 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted May 15, 2020 Super User Posted May 15, 2020 Sunline Super Natural. Quote

That’s what I have been using after switching from diefer. Good stuff it worked well down in Mexico for me. 1 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 16, 2020 Global Moderator Posted May 16, 2020 20lb braid ? If I'm using mono for topwaters, I'm probably using Big Game. 2 Quote

Super User N Florida Mike Posted May 16, 2020 Super User Posted May 16, 2020 I’ve switched several times. I’ve gone from Stren to trilene, back to stren, then P- line , back to stren, then Yo- Zuri, then back to Trilene, sometimes big game. Very happy now with these two, although I prefer the extra strong Trilene. I like the smooth casting trilene for some applications I use. Ive given up on Stren. Just too many break offs. P line was strong but way too many bird nests. I really liked Yo Zuri for a year or so , but I relined with it a couple times and started getting bird nests and break offs. I rarely get either with Trilene. Quote
