garroyo130 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Recently lots of scammers have been targetting Craigslist and more specifically the boat section. Scam posts will include the following: 1. A "too good to be true amount" typically close to the $1200 stimulus everyone received 2. A small or poor quality picture 3. Little to no description 4. An email address directly in the body of the ad Below is an example of one as well as the pictures showing the craigslist post and the actual post. Safe and happy shopping to all! 2 1 Quote
mheichelbech Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 These are rampant on Craigslist and Facebook around my area. They are getting more sophisticated in their pricing as well. Quote
Adam.love05 Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Who buys a boat sight unseen? Especiallya used one?! Quote

They aren't trying to scam people out of money from what I've seen. These are attempts to install spyware or such on computers/devices or identity theft or something else altogether. Several people on my local Craiglist have stated that a person reached out to them asking them to click a link for "Google verification". 1 Quote

HenryPF Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 These look like PC screen shots - how are you not running *** plus or ublock origin at this day and age? Quote
Dens228 Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Trying to sell something on Craigslist you get mostly scammer responses too. Quote
