I was just going through some plastics to pack for the weekend, and I came across a bag of pumpkinseed Culprits and tubes. I used to use that color in NY as one of my go to's.

I would think it is still a really good color. Companies do not really make it any more, or at least you rarely hear about it. I guess Green Pumpkin Took over?

The culprit color is translucent, Going to try it again. Also going to try the old salt and pepper worm.

Strange how colors become less popular. A grape worm was considered the best universal color at one time...Solid purple is rarely on shelves.

You are correct.

When Creme worms hit the market, any color was good as long as it was 'purple' (1950s).

The color 'pumpkin' is essentially brown, and the color 'pumpkinseed' is basically brown

with black flakes. However, once they added green to pumpkin and branded it 'green pumpkin',

the fishing world turned its back on pumpkin. The color pumpkinseed (one of my favorites)

is just as good today as it ever was. Nonetheless, the lure manufacturers are telling us

that other colors are better sellers (they never consult with the fish).

I think it's lacking a lot in soft plastics. Certain hardbaits it's still around. Daredevil released a new pumpkinseed color recently, it looks awesome and I bought some for my father who loves spoons and he's done very well on them.

That's for certain - Rapala has quite a few lines that have Live Pumpkinseed as a color option. I have a DT-6 and Shad Rap 07 in that color.

I 5hink the crankbait are more of a sunfish looking color scheme not like soft plastics. Still some around if you look.these are made by a guy in n.h.

Did something happen to the pumpkinseed color in plastics? Perhaps it's not as popular as it once was, but I use pumpkinseed fairly often, and haven't had any particular trouble finding it most of the time from both big and small companies.

A lot of the Cinnamon colors, remind me of the old pumpkin seed.

Zoom still makes a lot of soft plastics in this color. They call it pumpkin instead of pumpkinseed.

You still get Pumpkin Pepper Gitzits from Cayon lures.

Red shad, and motor oil used to be straight up deadly for me!

Well they have the double header color green pumpkin/watermelon red. I'd like to see pumpkin pepper/green pumpkin too, to match the craws here in Indiana that look brown and green.

I’ve caught more 5 plus lb bass on pumpkin seed berkley power worms than all other worms combined. I still use them today

Pumpkin Seed (while still available) fell out of favor once the Green Pumpkin color came along . When  bass fisherman discovered that Green Pumpkin mimics craws / blue gill so well the Green Pumpkin color quickly became a dominant soft plastic color  dominant . While I don't use Pumpkin color soft plastics - I am a fan of it's close relative by Robo Worm called "Oxblood & Oxblood Light" colors ... If you have Green Pumpkin , June Bug (or Black & Blue) , Watermelon Red (around grass)  and Shad color soft plastics (such as Pearl White) - you are pretty well set .

Chris, they are a Zoom distributor for the East coast, Japan, South Africa and South/Central America.

They have styles no longer available in retail stores; they have all of the new Zoom products before we see them on the shelves.  I had Motor Oil Red at least a year and a half before they finally showed up at local tackle shops and saw the mini-brush hogs before they were released to the market place.

Give them a call and tell them Sam sent you.

They will have a small discount so you shop for the types and colors you are seeking, not to save money with a big discount.

I used to have great luck on a Culprit Fat Max in Pumpkin seed.  May have to revisit that

All 3 classics in my book.  Especially the Red Shad.

Zman has their TRD Craw in Motoroil.  About the only thing I've really seen lately in it.  I know there's others.

Zoom has Trick Worms, Finesse Worms, U-Tail worms, & Speed Craws.

Been doing quite well with Speed Craws ?
