Who locks the threads? both threads that had anything to do with someone fishing in the wrong were locked? you can flag me if you want cause I don't have to be here. Do I like coming here yes but if your going to lock threads that give information on what to do not to sure I want to be here. As a 28 year veteran of Law Enforcement many people do not know to call a game ranger or a deputy when things that were they were describing happens. No one on either thread were overly aggressive about the posts on the threads.

I agree about the latest closed thread you mentioned, that seemed odd to me. Not sure where or if we are supposed to talk about this stuff so I'll leave it at that.

Glenn is the owner of Bass Resource, and it’s chief administrator. He makes the rules, which are clearly defined for you, if you read the FAQ and Rules section. We moderators are here to see that the rules are followed.

the short answer to your question is: we lock or dispose of threads in which rules are violated. And yes, we talk about these things, and make every effort to be even-handed about it.

Always use the blue if you want to ever loosen it up, otherwise use the red.

Different thread locker?

It's kind of a bummer that no reason was given in the particular thread. I have no clue what rule was broken there, or by whom.

I had a thread closed once and asked Glenn about it and we had a nice conversation over it. But if I didn't ask I wouldn't have known for sure and it would still bother me.

Suggestion:

It would be nice if a definite reason were given in any thread that is closed for all to see and maybe learn from. A lot of times it's obvious, but sometimes not.

What was mentioned in the thread under discussion here that was against the rules? I don't wanna beat a dead horse but I'd like to know.

I agree I have read the posting rules and saw no reason to lock the thread. as Schplurg said it would be nice to give a short explanation as to why.

Been about 18 months since I've heard from him. I know he got divorced, remarried, and adopted his new wife's kids. He was dabbling around with forging jewelry out of metal in his garage and teaching his adopted son how to weld.

Then you read the part about recourse.  We do not offer public discourse.  See below:

That moderator was WRONG!

Any and all complaints directed at a moderator must first address the moderator in question via PM. If the problem cannot be resolved, then the moderator and user must send their positions to the forum admin. The forum admin will make a ruling. All decisions are final.

I'm closing this thread, since there is nothing to talk about here.  I'm not even sure what threads we're talking about.  I'm sure there's more interesting fishing related things to discuss.
