As the title suggests I'm looking for a buff that would be comfortable in really warm weather. I've seen everything from a couple bucks to 50.00. In the past I've avoided them and went the sunscreen route. I just couldn't see covering my head in 80-100 degree weather due to the comfort level. But if there are some out there that would be comfortable in the heat I'd give it a try. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks

Kastking has been pretty good to me.  Huk makes a good one, Aftco etc.  At Aftco, you buy 1, they make 1 for the medical field.

My 2 cents worth is to get a face mask with breathing holes.  Without them you are sure to fog your sunglasses.  I have the Coolibar Abacos Fishing Gaiter UPF 50+
$34.00

Those look nice, to keep my glasses from fogging, I use dawn dishwashing soap to wash my glasses.  It keeps fog to a minimum.

I switched from wearing a buff to a hooded long sleeve sun shirt. Only need minimal sunscreen for nose/cheek area. Much cooler than a buff & no fogging issue with glasses.

I hate a buff. I can’t take anything that tight on my neck. I wear a wide brim hat, big sunglasses and a beard. All I need is just a touch of sunscreen on my nose and below my eyes. Long sleeve quick dry shirt, long pants and I’m covered.

This is what I was concerned about. I could deal with long pants and long sleeves. I’ll probably get one just too see. If it’s comfortable, great!

I wear an Aftco.  It was $20.  Best I've found for that price.  Doesn't curl like some of the cheaper ones and has extra material to prevent that nasty little burn line on your neck.  Also has the vented holes.

Mine has a bass pattern on it, but I don't think the fish care ?

I recently got a couple in Buff brand. Ordered them from Academy Sports. One for me and one for my wife to wear. We are using them for face masks right now in this current situation. Have not gotten to use them for fishing yet. Have not had to wear them for a long period of time but they seem to be reasonably comfortable. They were about $25 each.

I’ve been fishing a lot the past few weeks and have become comfortable wearing Huk gaiters out in the warm sun. The only time I have a problem with my glasses fogging is when so wear it inside the grocery store in place of a face mask.

Funny story - I changed my Twitter profile pic to the photo below and later made a comment on someone’s political tweet. I was accused of being a conservative terrorist hiding behind a mask. I had to point out is was a brand name fishing gaiter and fishing hat and there was a big lagoon behind me and that I fished almost every day. Some people...

When it's really hot I wear a wide brim hat.  The brim covers pretty much all of my face and neck.  In spring and fall I wear a buff with a cap.

Safishing.com is the best bang for your buck in my opinion. I wear them daily to cover the top of my head. I own Hoorag, Costa, Buff, and SA. In my opinion there isn't a significant difference between these, some of the other brands may be different (shape, vent holes, ect). I rarely wear them over my face though just on my head in summer and around my neck in winter.

Hook 360 is an up and coming company.  I have there stuff and like the quality.  Good prices for buffs right now.

If you really need a gaiter for sun from the front, the ones with some sort of chill dots are way more comfy.

I always start with this hat

It has both the cooling tech and a back flap that comes out. Fishing mid-day in texas heat is serious business and this hat looks like I'm someone's grandpa, but it sure works well. Buff goes on only if I'm getting sun reflected hard into my face.

I use the 5 for $20 SA Fishing ones. Work fine for me.

I have gone to light weight or sun hoodies.  When I do use a necky, my Columbia is the most comfortable followed by the ultra light ones by smartwool.  They are by far the coolest ones.  The company's that hype theirs as cooling require wind to cool and without it they are hot as hell

I’ve never worn a buff but I created something similar to go into Lowe’s and Home Depot by cutting the short sleeve off a t shirt. Viola, face mask

I've got a big head and a bit of a beard so a lot of the buffs run too small for me. The Glacier Glove one fits me great though.

Been trying to find a Huk one locally to no avail. Now that everyone has to wear masks, they are all sold out.

Well, couldn't find one locally and none of my online tackle shops had one that would ship quick.

Ended up ordering several from AFTCO @ $14 each, and they offered half off 2 day air shipping which ended up only being $2.99 more than ground. Ground was 5-7 days to even process the order and ship from California. Also, a huge plus, for every one you purchase as someone mentioned earlier, they donate one to first responders. Win, win.

Don't know if I'll ever wear one on the water but I'm using them as a "cloth face mask" for now........

We are using ours for the same thing. Ordered from Academy Sports One morning. Got them two days later delivered by USPS. The ones we got were a bit more at about $25 each.
