Hey looking for some decent places to fish, bank only. Taken three trips to Steele creek and have had some luck but the fish are super pressured. Bluegill, crappie and bass would be on the hit list, I’ve got two lil ones that need to feel a tug on the line. Thanks for any leads!

I’ve caught some big bass out of watauga lake but south Holston would be a lot closer. Fishing below south Holston and Boone dam and fort Patrick henry dam is good for trout from what I hear. Everyone seems to hate bass fishing FPH lake but some do really well there

How does South Holston and Boone fish for Largemouth?  I am about three hours away and those would make great three day weekend trips

I’ve never fished either but They both produce big largemouth and smallmouth. I even saw Where someone caught a 6 lb largemouth trolling 55 feet down targeting lake trout. When the water is up, there are tons of lay downs to fish. Boone has been 30 feet below full for several years but people still effectively fish and navigate it.

@TnRiver46 do you know of any small ponds/lakes to fish in the area? Plan on making some trips to SoHo and Boone when I can.

Negative. That Steele creek park you mentioned supposedly has some Monster bass in it. From what I’ve heard you might not want to give up on it yet. Also the Holston River is very good for wade fishing if the flows will allow

I’ve seen a couple nice ones up shallow sunning. Super finicky though. Even the bluegil are, I imagine it has to do with the fact eveberyone is fish and they are getting thrown at non stop ha. Might try some early morning or late night tactics soon
