The lake I fish most gets this slime/algae that covers every hook. It's pretty shallow, 1-4' for most of what I can reach from the bank. I don't have a problem getting snagged, even with open hooks like a Ned rig, but the slime catches everything and especially line ties.

Has anyone found a setup that is resistant to this alone? I throw a Texas rig pretty often and sometimes I can keep a keitech high enough to not get slimed but I'm always looking for ways to be more efficient.

Pegging a T rigged bait stream lining the bait. And bury the knot in the bait helps even cut tag ends will snag slime. ive yet to find a slime proof rig. That stuff is the worst

I don't know if there really is such a thing as a slime proof rig. It's hard to fish through with anything. You might try a split shot rig, with the shot 12" to 15" inches ahead of your worm rig. The shot would pick up some slime, but not so much on the actual bait. I would use a straight tail worm also, any curly tails or appendages on craw baits would only pick up more slime.

I agree with above. add a split shot or rig up a light carolina rig with a bullet weight and leave a leader long enough to rise above the slime.

I would use a floating/slow sinking worm, Z-man stick worm, Gambler Floating worms etc...

Standard round bend hook, not an ewg imo. I would also use Mono as it floats.

I have never found any bait or jig that can come through heavy slime, although a pegged texas rig as stated above is another option if its not really thick.

split shot rig. Small split **** the size of a pea, 6-12" from a 1/0 hook and a zoom finesse worm. best rig. pitch to ever and fish it. other than that a drop shot will keep the bait off it. Any lure that is moving will be decent when fish are active.

I would assume a slime bottom would not be a productive bottom and would choose another lure.  Maybe a moving bait.  I’m not sure slime covered bottoms have many bottom crawlers present.  At least not in the waters I fish.

The main body of water I fish around my home town is just like you described in the shallows, and has some monster bass and pike in that nasty slimy stuff. Although I spend a lot of my time fishing the deep weed edges to make it easier there are a handful of baits to get into it. The obvious one is a frog which will come through anything. I have had a lot of success with punching with punch dropshot rig. I’ll usually use a 1oz or so tungsten weight and a t rigged plastic 8-12” above the weight. This lets you fish right in the nasty stuff but your bait is still above all of the slime. If you don’t have as heavy of matted weeds on top then use a lighter weight. Weightless senkos are always a good option as well. Weedless keitechs on a very light swimbait hook. Fluke fished fast is another option to stay above the slime. I fish swim jigs a lot but I have never been able to find a bottom contact jig that will come through the slime at all well, I’d stay away from them.

A screw-lock worm hook ( few different manufactures), with a skinny dipper or senko..weightless of course.

My local lake gets terrible with slime during the summer months.

Frogs are great.

Flukes along the edges of surface blooms and drop shots paired with floating baits.

Every soft plastic needs the hook to be tex-posed to alleviate slime buildup.

That said, still battle some slime.

A round bodied paddle tail like an RI Skinny Dipper t-rigged with a pegged weight sheds slime very well.  The tail catches it but a hard twitch right before you lift it out of the water will usually clear it.  If you lube it up with Megastike or anything grease it seems to shed the slime even better.
