Has anyone else had a problem with the drag knob becoming looser while fishing? I was fishing today and after about an hour and half of fishing pulled my drag and it was looser than what I set it at

Nope.  I would guess there is something you are doing with your casting or retrieving motion that is loosening it.  My dad had a similar problem on a spinning set up that he was using for stripers where the reel seat was getting loose.  It turned out it was something with how he was casting and holding the rod that was loosening it up over time.  Once we figured it out, never had the issue again.

Don’t think so hasn’t happened with any other reel

Set your drag. Take a sharpie and put a hash mark at the drag star/handle junction. Fish it. See if the mark moves. Alcohol will disappear the mark once the experiment is over.

Any other Curado or any other reel period?  My dad didn't have an issue with any other reel but his Penn either.

Either way, if it is loosening that isn't a good thing so hopefully you can figure it out quickly.

No other reel including another curado

I noticed something thing like this on my K and it would occur after when the reel got wet from either a heavy rain or from using braided line.  Somehow a few drops were making there way into the reel and causing the drag to be less effective.   The reel would dry out and be fine.  I also stopped using braid on this reel just to see and it did make a difference.

Interesting. I fish mono on mine and the reel hasn’t been wet in a couple weeks. Not sure what’s causing this I’ll just have to keep my eye on it

Got this reel brand new 200KHG, used only a couple hours in morning, sold it right after. It might not be an issue but I didn’t wait to find out.

You can check and tighten drag after using it awhile. It shouldn’t get any more loose after this point.

Water get into drag stack plus grease make it more slippery.

Water will get into a reel at nearly every use. It’s expected and why they have drain holes. The grease will repel water and if it did get dunked or wet enough to emulsify the grease it would become less slippery not more.

I agree water or at least moisture can get into any reels, some less some more. I still remember old day when put back Abu 6500, I had to apply grease around the rim to prevent unnecessary moisture. After the “K” I did the same with curado 70 and Daiwa reels and I didn’t see as much moisture (actually pretty dry).

Regarding moisture make it more slippery or not, you have a lot more experience than me so I believe you. My point is when I clean my reel, I apply super thin coat of grease (rub grease on my finger then apply to drag disc not washer. It is kind of dry but the next cleaning, moisture get into it and make it more greasy and slippery. I might be wrong but that what my experience.
I did not say K is bad just want to point that out. I even told the guy that brought my reel about this issue, especially if he use the reel in saltwater.

I don’t understand the issue. These aren’t sealed, saltwater reels. That’s going to happen with basically any baitcaster...they’re designed as such. Most even have ports in order to allow water to evaporate easily.

I was literally just about to post this as well.

I still have an old matzuo spinner that was a Walmart special that I bought about ten years ago and it has done this from day one. It still functions fine so I still use but mostly for smaller fish.

If you don’t have issue then there is no issue. I don’t have issue with K either and figure why his reel drag become looser after fishing awhile. He might set drag when dry, once moisture get in become a little looser. If he set drag when wet then drag should stay the same not loosen more.
Just my .02 any reels might do that and we have habit of setting drag while fishing then there is no issue.

Fished the reel on and off today. I think it’s due to the fact of setting the drag dry and the drag feels looser as some water gets into the reel near the drag. A simple solution for me was to tighten the drag 2-3 clicks more than I normally do when the reel is dry.

The K let's a lot of water in just from casting.  That is definitely not normal for most reels.

x2. It probably won't hurt anything but I've had a ton of reels from most manufacturers and have never had one let water in like that k. If it doesn't both u thats great...as long as there are better options that don't do that im not using them.

If you're ok with disassembling the reel you can do something about this. After you've removed the gear side sideplate apply grease to the entire edge of it minus the drainage ports. reassemble, then wipe off the excess grease that squeezes out. Some water will make it's way in through the pinion, so you don't want it sealed completely. This will help.
