I know this is anecdotal information but it's interesting. A relative, a research scientist, has nothing to do with fishing companies but she does have a large circle of colleagues and they are involved with a bunch of varies stuff all over the world. She once recounted the story of a friends data company that was hired by a very large fishing equipment conglomerate to do studies about what colors of lures were more attractive to people. The people were non fishermen. They supposedly used that data to color their lures for display. The idea is that people would purchase the lures on what looked good to them. The idea was that if people find a color attractive they would think that the fish would be of a like mind. Great minds think alike right?. People who fish and fish???

Another scientist story. This is from a friend of my daughter who did a stint of research at a company while attending MIT.  He said he was in the mix when Febreze was first formulated. It works by neutralizing odors by attaching itself to the offending odor molecules. Before they would send Febreze to production they spent time finding out how to get Febreze to let go after 12 hours so the odors would return. He said that masking odors was the easy part. Getting it to unmask was the hard part. So, today we have Febreze that does a good job of masking odors but reverses itself each after awhile.

I’m sure I’m a little slow, but I’ve read this twice and can’t see what this has to do with the post, or fishing for that matter. ??‍♂️ It’s probably just me.?

In my area, watermelon shades work well :Watermelon seed on a cloudy day, watermelon red on a mostly sunny day, and watermelon slice in somewhat lower light conditions, like the hour before dark. Strangely, they won’t bite watermelon magic at all.. Houdini is great with bright sunshine... and Zooms golden bream.

June bug is a good color too. I generally don’t do well with white or black. Pumpkin is ok but not as good as the watermelon colors.Grape produces well at times.

I mostly fish a lake that varies between moderately stained to fairly clear. I use a variety of other colors and catch fish on them, but watermelons are always my top choice.

I believe to a large degree, what you are confident in works best.

Ah nothing. It started out with my post about a lure makers research into lure colors to make a buck off fishermen. then turned into another anecdotal story that was a narrative on the extent companies will go to make a buck.

So, you're not a little slow. I'm just a little off topic.

If I had one color I could use, that would be it.

June bug is my go to color here in central Florida.  Black grape was THE color here in Florida for many years and June bug is just black grape with green glitter. A close second would be Okeechobee claw which is green pumpkin with blue flake.  Watermelon red is probably my third favorite.

Killer on the Tennessee River as well.

On Table Rock I think the most popular will always be Green Pumpkin or Watermelon candy. A little dye on the tail and your set.

The only exception would be the big worm bite in the summer when plum or red shad works.

Look at the top baits thrown at The Elite tourney on Eufaula . Everybody throwing a worm and there were a lot of them , were throwing some variation of purple .

I was going to make a new thread on Roboworms. I've been catching fish so far this summer with Roboworm in Folkestad Special, and Black Grape. Both purplish colors

And not small worms at that, 10" ribbon tails by the look of it!
