Favorite squarebill and why?!

Any others?  I think I am set on silent squrarebills. I am looking for ones that rattle. Thanks

Try the Lucky Craft LC Rattle In or DRS (Deep Rattle Sound). I have a prior gen model, RTO I think it's called and it's beat to tick but still catches a ton of fish. I would wager those are just as good.

Ok so I think I'm going to pick up one or two of each of these: Lucky craft LC 1.5 rt, River2Sea Monroe Biggie Small SB, 6th sense crush and 6th Sense Movement L7

That should confuse me enough for awhile lol. 

 

Thank you for all your help and advice!  There are several others that I am interested in and will try those out after these.  Any other thoughts about the ones I have selected?  Love trying new stuff!

Some great baits suggested here, so I'll chime in on the question of when to use silent cranks and this is based on my experiences. Any crank presented in clear water at a depth above that of the light penetration is a silent one for me. I don't know about a bass' vision, but I feel that there is no need to draw attention to your presentation by adding noise.

Bass, being sight feeders, are going to see your crank and rattles don't add any strike inducing characteristic. I reserve those for deep, or lower visibility  water.

The one exception, for me, is fishing post frontal conditions when the bass are holding tight to cover and have a very small strike window.  That's when I break out the bright, gaudy colors and baits with rattles.  I don't care why, but burning a noisy, bright crank can get them out of their funk and into attack mode.

I started collecting these recently myself I’ve been getting into a lot of the craw Color variations that bomber has. Also got a rattling one from strike king. Hoping to have some luck with them.

I have a lot of square bills and each seems to have their time and place. My favorites are the Mann's Baby X, which are the same as a 1 minus only they have a square bill and dive to 2' -2.5' depending on line size. I really like it because the lip isn't as wide as others and the corners aren't rounded off, they are sharp. The lip resembles more of a rectangle than a square and it causes it to deflect wildly. The slightly bigger square bills I really like the Xcalibur/Booyah XCS 200, they are consistent from bait to bait. What makes these one of my favorites is that I can reel them in at a fast pace and it will cause them to deflect hard but they never seem to blow out. That wide deflection combined with the size consistently draws strikes from larger than average fish.

Used to be a big Strike King fan...but everyone...and I mean EVERYONE around here uses them. I like to use stuff that gets a little less play from the local SK or bust mob.

Pick up some of the OG ruck clunns or the RTOs while you can. Not sure if its the tungsten rattle over brass or what, but they catch way more fish for me than the LCs and for that matter any other squarebill. The 0.5 has given me 50 fish days.

 

Honorable mention that few talk about has been the storm arashi series...I really like the way they creep through a laydown.

Bomber square A: it catches fish, the truest running squarebill i've ever used, not obnoxiously loud, and has decent hooks out of the package. Primolary 3 colors: baby bass, apple red crawdad, and firetiger.

Here's 2 that I haven't seen mentioned that I use specifically for their rattle. 

1. 13 Fishing Scamp (A little BB sound)

2. KVD 1.5 Hard Knock. (More of a thud knock sound)

My faves that I have confidence that will catch fish for me: R2S Biggie Smalls, KVD 1.0/1.5 & new hard knock.

Berkley Fritts Side 5, SPRO Little John 50 and 6th Sense Crush.

 

I mostly prefer rattles, but the Fritts Side has been killing it in clear water for me.

Edit: I will admit, like a lot of crankbaits, some catch better than others and I have 10-12 that I always take.

Bandit may not be classified as a square bill but it does catch fish, my favorite crankbait plus it is one of the cheapest.

100% agree on the Footloose.  Baby Minus One is my favorite shallow crankbait.  I’d love to find something better but I haven’t been able to.  If anyone knows of a better 1-2 foot running crankbait please post here.  They do require changing out the hooks.  Really like a feathered triple grip hook on the back.

Right now my favorites are the kvd strike king 1.5’s and the lucke strike Rick Clunns. They are my favorites becauss, that’s what I have and have caught fish on.  I have been trying other MFG’s  so that will change

I also like the Rick Clunn RC series. Idk why, but I just catch more on them than anything else.
