Just ordered the top-of-the-line Gill jacket from there for $210, thanks! I will wait until we can travel to stores for bibs... I really need to try them on with my Chris Farley torso and Barney Rubble legs. thanks again everyone 1 Quote
clemsondds Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Was going to start a new thread...but saw this old one and thought I would revive it. Any other thoughts on the best rain jacket? I'm looking to keep one just for fishing. Would like a waterproof/gortex shell that isn't too bulky. I have bought several of the simms jackets and just didn't like the fit. What's your favorite jacket? thanks Quote
zeth Posted August 16, 2021 Posted August 16, 2021 Anything Event or goretex. Anything made with wither of those materials will likely have a very long or lifetime warranty. They will work better, breath better and last longer. Brand is just up to you in terms of fit, feautres, styling. people will give you all kinds of opinions but if it's not made with either of those two materials its not worth your money. BuckNBass may be the exception but that stuff is $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Quote
Crow Horse Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I use USMC light exposure suit (gore-tex) in the warmer months. When it's colder I use ABU APECS (Gore-Tex) top and bottom. I searched for quite a while on Ebay to find ones that were priced reasonably..... Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 I use commercial grade fishin gear, I love my grundens. They are good for winter and rain. Quote
Wprich Posted August 17, 2021 Posted August 17, 2021 Simms is what I pretty much stick with for fishing clothing. You can get Simms gear marked down end of season on Simms site and also steep and cheap to save some bucks cause Simms is expensive. 1 Quote

I actually ended up going with two and either I'll pick one and send the other back or just keep both ha. I got the Simms Challenger and then I also got the Marmot Preclip Ecojacket. It was just $100 and has really good reviews so I thought I would try it. Hopefully at least one of these will do the trick. I was going to go with Arcteryx but for the cost of one of those, I could get both of these, and since it will be a fishing jacket...I don't want to be really worried about damaging it. So I guess we will see how things go Quote
