Super User DitchPanda Posted May 1, 2020 Super User Posted May 1, 2020 I'm thinking of making a baby bass skirt for a swim jig and was curious what color tabs to use? Also what's a good color trailer to compliment this? Not sure if this belongs here or in tackle making Quote
Finessegenics Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I’d use watermelon and pearl tabs for sure. I like paddle tail swimbaits for swim jig trailers and I’d probably use an “Ayu” color. You can find that color in a lot of keitech style baits. The eco pro swing Shad has a “Shad ayu” which is very similar to keitechs and the plastic is also much more affordable. Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted May 1, 2020 Author Super User Posted May 1, 2020 So after I posted this I went downstairs and just made one up..it looks pretty bassy in my estimation. I used a few strands of black a tab of army green pumpkin black bars a half tab of a watermelon/root beer looking color half a tab of living image green glimmer shad and 4 strands of pearl white. Good call on the Ayu color that will look good on there for sure. I also use the swing shad and have good luck with them. I will either go with that or the yum pulse in the ayu color 1 Quote
OnthePotomac Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Not a skirt, but the KVD Caffeine shad in baby bass is a killer on the Potomac. Always have one on. Quote

Not sure if this belongs here or in tackle making I make a baby bass pattern with the following: 1 tab whiskey barbwire, green flake 1 tab white 1/2 tab black The trick is to get the white strands on bottom, whiskey/green on top, and black strands in the middle for the black stripe pattern on the lateral line. Here it is on a bladed jig with a "baby bass" Zoom fluke trailer: 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted May 2, 2020 Author Super User Posted May 2, 2020 That's closer to what I want..mine looks decent but that's better..May have to pick up some whiskey tabs Quote
