Fishingmickey Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Howdy, I'm in the market to replace my travel rods. I had a couple of the Fenwick methods 5 pc. spinning and baitcasting rods that had the extra tip and mid section to change between medium and medium heavy. I had one of the Omen 13 and a Daiwa Arid travel rod. Someone decided they liked them more then me. I'm hoping to find some good quality replacements with case without dropping too much coin. I'd like them to be under a couple of hundred. One hundred to one fifty is more ideal. What have you guys found that works for you? Thanks in advance, Fishingmickey Quote
Tizi Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I have 2 Arditos: spinning and casting. Fantastic rods. Look around, you can find them for $100 or less. 2 Quote
RichF Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I'm also a fan of the Arditos. I haven't fished many travel rods but this one is by far the best. It feels almost like a one piece. My 7ft MH casting was put to work on the Big O last year. Quote
JediAmoeba Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I have a travel spinning and a travel casting. They get the job done for what they are... Both are telescoping because I dont like the idea of multiple pieces. I got the Kastking Blackhawk II models. Spinning Medium Power, 7'0" Casting MH Power, 7'1" I would recommend them. Quote
thunderblack Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Fenwick HMG and Daiwa Ardito for budget. Best I've fished is Loomis Escape. Not super sensitive but landed monsters on them. Medium 7' is my favorite. Take two to Florida every year. Can be found pretty easy but they are discontinued. Quote
Allen Der Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Bass Pro has 3 piece Pro Qualifier rods with a hard case on sale for $79. I have the older Extreme's but these are very similar. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-spinning-rod https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-2-casting-rod Quote
Armtx77 Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I have the Diawa HMG spinning set and have used it several times. I have a Diaws BG 1500 for it and found it to be more than adequate. I would buy another. Quote

Which did you like better between the HMG and Ardito? I currently have a Ardito spinning rod but will probably be purchasing a travel casting rod in the future. Quote
Fishingmickey Posted May 4, 2020 Author Posted May 4, 2020 Has anyone tried the St Croix Triumph travel rods? thunderblack Posted May 4, 2020 Posted May 4, 2020 I have not fished any casting models. All were spinning. Thanks Quote

FM I like them, you really cant beat them for the price and getting a rod tube. My only complaint is the tip is not a true fast action, more moderate fast. Not sure if the new PQ2 rods are better in that regard. FWIW I also have a fenwick eagle travel rod and it seems to have the same moderate action tip. Just takes some getting used to; braid helps too Quote
Fishingmickey Posted May 4, 2020 Author Posted May 4, 2020 I'm going to swing by Cabela's today and see if they have some of the PQ rods in stock. Fingers crossed hope I like'em. FM Quote
