PezJunkie Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Any one have any tips or advice for removing decals off a bass boat Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted February 19, 2009 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted February 19, 2009 Use a hairdryer to heat them up and soften the glue, then peel them off. Quote
R@ngerman195vs Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 What type of boat - Aluminum or Glass? Depending on the decals, and the type of boat, I'd probably use a heat gun but VERY carefully. Generally you can heat up the decals enough that you can peel them off with a plastic putty knife or even your fingers. But don't get carried away with the heat gun!! Quote
Super User Way2slow Posted February 19, 2009 Super User Posted February 19, 2009 Using either of the above methods will usually get the plastic part off and use MEK solvent to get the glue off. You do have to get the plastic off before using anything to get the glue. Quote
Triton9 Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 GOO GONE Amen to that, that stuff works wonders when getting decals off Quote
TommyBass Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Ive taken many decals off of boats and 4 wheelers (aluminum, fiberglass, and plastic). Nothing works better than a normal hair dryer fairly close to the sticker, then peel with fingers / soft rubber putty utensil. Once the main sticker is gone there will still be residue. Go back over it with a product like GOO GONE or one of the other adhesive break-up brands and a soft cloth. On really stubborn areas let some of the goo gone sit for awhile then use your fingernail to scratch it off. When done wash with warm soapy water, I dont like that stuff to stay filmed on there forever. You'll never know it was there! Quote
Btech Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Being a mechanic i remove stickers ALOT from just about every material you can think of. A Hairdryer or heat gun works the best to get them off than use some Brake Clean on a rag or some Ronsonall Lighter fluid for zippo's to take the stickey parts off works wonders! Quote
