Confused about......my worm?!?!

Ok so I keep hearing trick worms and finesse worms here and there. So what's the difference? What do you throw on a texas rig,  wacky rig?

If you're talking about the Zoom brand, the trick worm is greater in length (6.5"). Both are straight, slender worms.  And yes, rig it any way you want.

 

Both can be used for a variety of techniques, in all levels of the water column.  Weightless Texas rig, dropshot, shaky head, wacky, Neko, weighted Texas rig for light pitching, Carolina rig, just to name a few of the more common.

The Zoom finesse worm is a great worm. 4 3/4” - 5” straight tail. Colors are endless but the basic have to have colors is all you need. Most plastics are inexpensive. Zoom stuff is certainly inexpensive and works. I’m using the Trick Worm more and more because I’m trying to step my sizes up.

Good time of year for the trick worm around the spawn....so are the senko style...all fished weightless....lot of times can see them take it....enjoy

Both of these worms work good. These are some of the most popular worms with bass fisherman. The straight tail comes through weeds and cover well. I like to t rig mine, usually 1/8 to 1/4 oz slip sinker.

Once upon a time, trick worms were a specialized type worm and floated, and were used weightless as such, while most all “finesse worms” were used as some type of rig (doodle, slider, splitshot, texas, dropshot, etc.) and largely didn’t float. Now days, the lines have been blurred.

Trick worm is a bit bigger can be used interchangibly with a finesse worm for the most part. If you like those. Give the z3 swamp crawler a try. My personal favorite.

I have had success with both of the works you are talking about. I strictly use the strike king fat baby finesse worm for shakey heads now, it has outfishes trick worms on way too many trips for me not to throw it. It has almost a little spoon on the end of the tail that wags around when you shake or drag it and the fish can’t stand it. I think it is 5.5” so in between the trick and finesse worm. It is a little more expensive than zoom stuff but it’s worth it in my opinion. I’ve caught some great smallmouth, largemouth, 26” walleye, and a 19lbs channel cat. If I just need to get bit that is the bait I pick up.

I love swamp crawlers both the original magnums and z series ones
