What knot do you use for mono

Had to tie a knot with mono for my 5 year old tonight and I realized I haven't used mono for anything for so long I kind of had to think for a moment for what knot to use. For FC I use the Shaw Grigsby knot and the palomar for braid but what do you use for plain ol' mono? I think I reverted back to a clinch knot but when I was done it looked so incredibly weak but the more I thought about it I figured there was probably a better knot for mono. What do you use?

Unless I forgot my reading glasses, or I'm in  a big hurry, San Diego jam knot, other wise a uni, with 5 or 6 wraps. Just make sure to WET the knot and the line close to it. This goes for 8 lb to 17 lb mono.

I only use one knot for all lines, the Pitzen.

I don't fish mono much anymore but my favorite is the Trilene knot. Supposed to be a high strength %.

I fish mono quite a bit, I guess.  Unless I need a loop, I use a 5-turn uni-knot.  San Diego jam also works fine, but I've been tying the uni so long that I'm faster with it.

Yeah.  Started with Clinch knot, then Improved Clinch Knot then Uni Knot.  Been tying the Uni Knot for umpteen years.  Works in all lines.

and a uni to uni or a blood knot for any line to line connections.

 

Back in the day I used the Mite Knot quite a bit.

   If I'm in a real hurry, it's the Improved Clinch. If I'm not in a real hurry, or if I'm tying FC, it's the San Diego Jam knot, which has been called the Improved Pitzen or Locked Pitzen. 

   One thing to note on "weak" knots; if any knot holds stronger than your max drag, or strong enough to bend your rod to the maximum, then it's strong enough. After that, it's consistency; consistency of the line, the knot, and how consistently you tie them.        jj

All I use is mono and copoly..only knot I tie is improved clinch. Never had any issues with it so I never changed.

Same knot I use for braid, fluorocarbon, and any other type of line - the Palomar. Keep the game simple ?

Used to use a Palomar for mono, but use a Uni now for everything, everything.

trilene knot or palomar but palomar can waste a lot of line.  uni to uni for connecting mono leader to braid

Can the 5 year old tie shoe laces? If so a Palomar knot should be easy knowing how to tie the overhand knot to start with. 

Monofilament is very forgiving line any reliable fishing knot will work.

Most of the time I use the uni knot when fishing with monofilament line.
