ARCHIVE OF MONEY WINNING BAITS?

It seems to me that I am always hearing about a technique that so and so used to win such and such lake, and it becomes the hot new thing. I am wondering if there is a place to find information about tournament winning baits. Like would bassmaster have anything like that on their site? I can imagine that a lot of that info is scattered al over the place, I just think it would be interesting to look at all that stuff.

I can see on the surface where having information like that might be useful to some people, but I think accurate info might be hard to come by. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t pros known to say that they used a sponsors bait regardless of what they actually caught their fish on?

Yep, because we all know that they have a 110 in their boxes no matter who their sponsor is. LOL

Both FLW and B.A.S.S. publish articles of the top 10 baits after each major tournament. Also Bass Fan.

Just Google FLW top 10 baits, they are broken down by lake.

tough subject to answer correctly. given the circumstances, a tournament could be won on a hundred different baits depending on the weather, time of tournament, so on and so forth. as long as you present it correctly and have a small bit of luck on your side, that's all you can control. tournaments are won by putting yourself in the best possible position with the correct presentation to catch a good limit of fish, not by the exact brand or type of bait you're using.

 

edit: if i we're a betting man, every pro angler has a jackhammer, vision 110, and a few bags of senko's on their boat ready to go ?

One thing I've noticed is how many different baits are used by the top ten anglers in a given tournament.   That's not always true but it is most of the time.  Kind of makes me think it might be the fisherman and not the bait that's catching all those fish. ?

Or the electronics. Sometimes I wish they would just go with GPS , Sonar and down imaging and leave the Side Scan ,live scope, Panoptics and 360 ect out.

It will never happen but the days of doing much just going down the bank are about done.

I agree with all that has been stated already.  You're never gonna get the truth. I would concentrate a lot more on patterns guys are running on different lakes throughout the season. I think its a rare deal that one bait is that much better than the rest. I do browse the top 10 winning baits/patterns myself and usually its on supposedly the same baits we all use.

I've never really found the winning baits to be super relevant.  They're either a bait I already use, or it's a seasonal thing, and that season has passed.  It's more interesting to hear a pro breakdown their progression on how they got to that bait.

I love when KVD came out and said he would use a shaky head in a certain situation over a 1.0 or 1.5 and he could not get over how good it felt that he could say it out loud.

There is a website that actually has that information from each tournament going back into the 70's....Bass Acrhive I believe..I have not been on there in a while but it has articles from older tournaments and talks about the tackle being used, strategies being used back then etc..

 

I would guess Jigs, Worms & spinnerbaits likely still hold the lead overall.....

And just because the pro is using said bait, doesn't mean it is the production model available to us...  Companies make special runs for pros...and oft times you cant trust the information at face value.
