I am in the market for a used, but fairly new bass rig.  A local dealer has an 07 Bass Tracker 175TXW with a 25hp motor for 10,500.  This seems a bit much, I was looking for advice on how much to offer for this boat and get an idea of a fair price.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They are only 12995 new, 2 years old I would offer at least 2grand less than what he is asking.  here is the link to the tracker website with the boat

You can also look up the value of the boat here

BTW the average retail is 7000 good luck

Dealers don't seem to budge much so a lowball offer is not gonna get much attention.

With the sucky economy you could get a great deal from a private seller.   For 10K you could get a really nice glass boat if its well kept a couple years older.

Spring is coming up and there should be alot more on the market soon.

So my suggestion is offer 8K and see what they say.  They probably got it for 7K.

If not keep looking until you find a great deal thats hard to pass up.

Good luck.

Yea I was thinking of offering 8,000 and seeing if they bite. I think if I brought the NADA print out with me along with what a new one retails at I would have a good arguement. I don't think it's worth more than 8,500. I am certainly willing to be patient, and have no problem walking away if it isn't what I think is reasonable.  I appreciate the help you all are great.

That isn't true at all.  It depends on so many variables that the buyer isn't aware of, even more if the boat is used.  I had a dealer drop the price of a brand new boat $1000 every time I got up out of the chair to leave.  I simply wanted the price of the boat.  By the time we were through, he dropped the price by $7K.  Other times, the price on the sticker was what you were going to pay.  As far as choosing a dealer, its much like buying a car, they all have a good deal on a boat.  Look to the reputation of their service department, as you will be using it - it is a boat after all.

Do a little search and print the same boat at cheaper money. Don't pal your all cards just bring out until they cry and give.

We just bought a travel trailer same deal ever time we headed for the door the price got better.

You won't like that 25 hp on a boat like that. You'll be going about 25 mph in ideal conditions. Ive got one like it with a 30, you should look for a better deal like the rest of these people have said.

edit. I checked out the website, they estimate for that 25hp 20-22 mph. That would be under ideal conditions also, so don't count on getting that.

Used boats like that are priced to be able to accept a trade-in and still make a good profit.  There are 2 or 3 commissions to be paid plus what ever work the dealership had to do after they traded for the unit so the asking price is 30-40% more than they have in it.

Is that the only lake you fish, or just one of them? If you have more options it may be a good idea to consider that, because you do not want to be stuck paying for something that you find yourself unsatisfied with. Its all up to you really, just be sure you get something you will be happy with, and not something that makes you wish you wouldn't have got it.

Yea Dawson you make a good point, I am now thinking instead of trading in my 14.5 foot grumman for the maybe 1500 id get for it and keeping it for the 4 maybe 5 times a year I fish the HP restricted lake.  I am now looking into an 07 175txw with a 60hp engine, they want 11,999 for it I am thinking of offering 10,500.  Just a lot of thinking right now though it's still early in the season here foot of ice still on the lakes so I am in no hurry not about to jump at anything.  I do appreciate everyone's help you all are great!
