What trailers are you guys running for a 3/4 oz war eagle spinner baits. I usually use 4 inch Kalins ( or similar size grubs).  However, because a lot  of the weight of the spinner bait is located on the hook shank.  It is splitting my grubs right down the middle.
suggestion on a bigger grub or I guess would it also split a paddle tail?

took a decent smallie with this combo out the Tittabawassee River.

Lubricate the hook some prior to trying to attach the trailer.   All it takes is some spit.   I use the BPS Cajun trailers on that bait, the white ones with the chartreuse tails and when one splits like that grub in the picture it means that I didn't take the time to put it on correctly.

Just spit on or water  for lube ? Than make sure it’s dead center on it ? Sounds simple enough

Perhaps you could just butt the plastic up to the head and use a dab of super glue to secure it.  Maybe that will allow it to stay in without threading it all the way over the lead part.

I was using super glue. I dunno if it would stay on if I didn’t take it all the way to the head.  I think it’s more of what the first poster was saying that I probably just didn’t have them on right.

So I was doing some messing around with the grubs. No matter what I do they ended up splitting. or if they didn’t split right away they split later. Might just have to invest in bigger grubs or paddle tails. I definitely like how the 3/4 oz spinner bait stayed down on the bottom of 12 foot of water on the river.

Oh also FYI Apparently kalins started mfg in China.  I have 4 bags total in differnt colors of kalins 4 inch grubs. 3 bags made in the US the bag of white grubs says made in China.
