Big-Bass Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 Does anyone use these? How about the casting rods...particularly the 71MXF and the 73MHF. Looking for input on comparison to other models in the price range and other rods within the Daiwa lineup. Thanks! Quote
waymont Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 I have handled them in my local store. Holding them next to the standard Tatula rods they felt the same. The Tatula rods have Fazlite guides, and the Kage have Alconite guides, and different style grips. I didn't see any reason at all to spend the $50 more for the Kage rods. I greatly prefer the cork, and the shape of the Tatula grips over the Kage. Pro tip: Sportsman's outfitters has Tatula rods on sale now for $109.00! I am pretty sure the blank is exactly the same in the two lines. Quote
jtesch Posted May 3, 2020 Posted May 3, 2020 Have the 7’3” mh f. In both Kage and Tatula elite. I prefer the Kage as I feel it’s a little lighter and more sensitive. I think the painted blank and heavier handle of the Tatula make the difference. Either is an excellent choice in the sub $200 catagory. Prefer the Kage to the Cronos also. Another series using the same blank I believe. I’ve got a Kage spinning rod also that I love. Reminds me of the first gen Shimano Cumara’s. High praise in my world. 2 Quote
TNReb Posted August 5, 2020 Posted August 5, 2020 Anyone happen to have any more info on these rods? I'm interested in the 7'4 Frog rod. Quote
JCurtiss Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 I have the M / XF, it is very light and extremely sensitive; in other words, I will buy more. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted March 4, 2021 Global Moderator Posted March 4, 2021 I just bought the Tatula 7’1” MH/XF to be used for all bottom contact presentations except for punching. I haven’t used it yet but it looks (not that it really matters) and feels great. I paired it with a Curado K spooled with 20# Shooter. Even tho I’d prefer it to be a little tip heavy, it balances perfectly. The difference in the guides don’t matter. I was gonna ask if anyone had this also, just to get their opinion. Mike Quote

Mike I have that rod, too. I have a 13 Origin C reel on it. I like it alot for almost anything bottom contact. I've also used it for buzz baits and topwaters... just make sure they have it before you set the hook. 1 Quote

I was wondering about using it for buzz baits also. A friend has one that I tried but he was afraid to use it for anything on top. I used a 3/8 jig on it which seemed perfect for. This weekend I plan on gradually increasing weights up to the 1 oz rating and see how far I can go. It seems to load really quick which is what I was looking for in a MH. Mike Quote

Would you recommend this rod for 1/8-3/16 oz shaky heads? Or would that be too light as the rod is rated 1/4-3/4 oz... Thx 1 Quote

Thx I'd look at the 7'M or 7'2MH for shakyheads in spinning rods, the 7'1 ML might work too, it's got a good amount of backbone for a ML/F. I have the 6'10 med/fast and 7'1ML, they definitely punch above their price point. Quote

Too many surgeries on my wrist to use spinning rods anymore. I guess you can say that I’m half the man I used to be... ? Quote
