I like it a lot. Tiny. Light. Throws very light baits well. Very good distance caster. No need to open a side cover to adjust brake blocks. Oil the brake plate regularly with the included oil and you should be quite happy. If you don't own a spool pin remover then oil the bearing on the spool shaft and side cover in place for the first several uses. It'll break down the grease a bit. Use just a touch of spool tension until it breaks in.

I have 6 of them.  They run 200 msrp but can be easily found for 140-150.  TBH it's kinda average at the 200 price point but one of the top out there when u can find them for 140.  Breaks are fairly smooth on them, good casters and ok with weightless soft plastics so long as it using a decent rod.  I've had the majority of mine for 7 plus years.  The gears arent silent any more, but they aren't grinding either.  I havent had any mechanical issues out of them.  You simply CANT beat them for the price.  I bought a bb1 when they brought them back in 2014, it's ok, but not special.  I have 99 dollar lews speed spool that I like better than the bb1.

This will be on a 7’2 heavy mainly for 3/8-3/4 oz jigs and Texas rigs.

I didn't find anything spectacular about them, but they're just smooth solid reels that are comfortable to fish. I thought the newest BB1 Pro actually went down a notch. The previous version with the carbon handle was a better value, in my opinion.

It will be just fine then.  I have one on a Endurance 714, that I use for jigs, swim jigs, and pitching.

Make no mistake, they are great reels

.. but I agree with you... for 200 bucks they arent that special.  For 140 they are a steal.  It's just a solid well made reel.  Cant speak for the bb1 I was disappointed with the last one and sold it.

I’m replacing a tatula sv 103 with the tournament pro. I just can’t get the distance with the tatula.

The brake tech is not the same as it was 7 years ago. Different animal.

I thought the Tournament Pro LFS came out last year.  I have one of the original Tournament Pros and it is a nice reel.  Especially for the $125 I paid for it.

I have both. No worries. The TP will outcast the Tat SV, but so will a lot of reels.

Correct. It's a 2020 model with a number of differences from the old TPs.

Nothing is free.  I feel I get good distance with my SV spooled reels, but if I am going for distance I am not grabbing an SV spooled reel.

The SV is a better reel, in my opinion, but if you want more distance the Lews will give you what you want.

Amazon just recently had the Speed spool for $78, bought a couple and hard to beat. Imo

They're back up over $100 now.

Sportsmansoutfitters has the Tournament Pro for $139 and Speed Spool for $84. They're usually about as low as it gets.

I have one. When I got it it was a massive upgrade from my Revo SX. Although it is a good reel it's a backup in case I ever have an issue with one of my Curado 71s. Considering I have more of those than I use on an average day it is going to sit quietly on my shelf with the Revos and Curado Ks.

Best $200 reel out there. I throw 1/10 oz. Ned rigs with it on 8lb. Sufix Advance mono with no problem. The brakes are the best in the business.if you backlash a lot with this reel you need to use spinning only. Distance is great on casts. As guys have said Sportsmans Outfitters has them at $139 which is a steal. The carbon drag goes to 20lbs and is smooth. You really can't go wrong.

I've got one and use it alot.  It does everything I ask it to.  I think it was a solid reel for the $139 I paid for it.  I currently have 2 BB1s, a BB1 Pro, the Tournament Pro LFS and just a plain LFS.  I paid less than retail for all of them and they are good at that price.  I don't think they are Daiwa or Shimano quality but are solid at discounted prices.

Got the reel today very nice and light & cast’s awesome. And it matches my OG Tatula rod perfect.

10 g-ish without the bearing.  Have thrown 3.5 grams for decent distance on a mf 7'er.

Great reel, not quite as smooth as a curado but casts just as well and has a super solid feel. I only have one of them and it broke on the first trip I made with it, but after getting it fixed by lews I have had great luck with it. Probably won’t be buying any more because curado K’s are $20 less and a better reel in my opinion, but the tournament pro is an amazing reel for that price point.
