Saavedra9 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 What's everyone's favorite way to fish soft plastics and whats your go to lure when fishing gets tough? Quote
Super User Bird Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 In high pressured clear water lakes around here, Roboworm on drop shot. 1 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 Right about now, in this area, is when the bass start biting better on plastics. I like to fish plastics is on a Texas rig, or weightless, but as the weather warms up more I'll be using a split shot rig. I'll fish with 3" and 4" worms and senkos on that split shot rig. If I just can't get a bite on anything else I will start fishing with a jig and craw. 1 Quote
BassinCNY Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 My favorite way to fish a soft plastic is punching. Usually a super speed craw. My go to plastic is a green pumpkin senko. 2 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 Weightless soft plastics can be very effective in pressured waters. Quote
Tizi Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I love fishing weightless, with a heavy wire hook. Super Flukes are tough to beat. 1 Quote
rtwvumtneer6 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Pitching/punching with a Rage Bug. But they can be used for much more. Jigs, biffle hardheads, buzzbaits, Carolina rig, anything you can think of, really. When it's really rough, a dropshot or Ned rig and I go to a smaller bait maybe 2.5-3". 1 Quote

Super User Log Catcher Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 Usually fish mine on a Texas rig. I tough bite conditions I use a Zoom Centipede. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 27, 2020 Global Moderator Posted April 27, 2020 Punching, with either a Rage Bug or Sweet Beaver. Speed Worm when it’s tough and when it’s not Mike 1 Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 Largemouth: Flippin/pitchin a T-rig creature to brush and bushes. A SK Rage Bug is hard to beat. Smallmouth: Dropshot a nose hooked bait. Robo worms are proven. 1 Quote

I've heard them called so many different things, but I assumed a quick search for Biffle Head and you would find what I was talking about. Also @A-Jay if you take one of @Siebert Outdoors Fogy (football style head with blade) no skirt just add a swimbait of your choice, you better hold on tight ?. Quote

The swing head pictured (Top & Bottom) is the RPE Tackle Tungsten Swinging Football Jig Head. It allows the hook to be replaced / changed as needed. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-RPETCO.html?from=basres A-Jay Quote

Hook2Jaw Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 My favorite ways to power fish plastics are Texas rigging anywhere from 1/4 to 1¼ ounce weights along with a YUM Dinger, ZOOM Ol' Monster, or YUM Bad Mamma. My favored finesse techniques are shakyhead, weightless, and drop shot. I opt to use ZOOM Trick Worms for the jig, YUM Dingers or ZOOM Flukes for the EWG hooks, and YUM Kill Shots or ZOOM Flukes on the drop shot hook. @A-Jay, I want to get into swinghead fishing as an alternative to crankbaits. Are you swimming them or letting them bump bottom? 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 28, 2020 Super User Posted April 28, 2020 Once the boat comes down off of plane the first thing I grab is a Texas Rig. I don't care if its grass, brush, timber, rocks, docks, pads, lay downs, shore line or off shore. I don't care if its pre- spawn, spawn, post spawn, summer, dog days, fall, winter, morning, noon, or night. I'm gonna be casting, flipping, pitching, punching, hopping, dragging, shaking, dead sticking, or skipping. 4 Quote

Black Hawk Basser Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 My favorite way to fish plastics is weightless and aggressive on top with Flukes, toads, & creatures. When it is very tough, I'll bottom hop a lightly weighted Texas rigged Chigger Craw or finesse worm. Quote
Armtx77 Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 T-Rigged 5"Senko, on a Gammy EWG 3/0 or 4/0 hook and 1/16oz tungsten bullet weight, pinned by a bobber stop. Soon to be adding a bead between the hook eye and bullet weight. Quote
