Depends entirely on season, weather, surface conditions, etc.

Ned, Dropshot, T-Rig, Jigs w/trailers and spinner/chatter/buzzbaits with trailers all have a place in my repertoire.

Right about now, in this area, is when the bass start biting better on plastics. I like to fish plastics is on a Texas rig, or weightless, but as the weather warms up more I'll be using a split shot rig.  I'll fish with 3" and 4" worms and senkos on that split shot rig.

If I just can't get a bite on anything else I will start fishing with a jig and craw.

My favorite way to fish a soft plastic is punching. Usually a super speed craw. My go to plastic is a green pumpkin senko.

Weightless soft plastics can be very effective in pressured waters.

I love fishing weightless, with a heavy wire hook.  Super Flukes are tough to beat.

Pitching/punching with a Rage Bug.  But they can be used for much more.  Jigs, biffle hardheads, buzzbaits, Carolina rig, anything you can think of, really.

When it's really rough, a dropshot or Ned rig and I go to a smaller bait maybe 2.5-3".

Punching, with either a Rage Bug or Sweet Beaver.

Speed Worm when it’s tough and when it’s not

Largemouth:  Flippin/pitchin a T-rig creature to brush and bushes.  A SK Rage Bug is hard to beat.

Smallmouth:  Dropshot a nose hooked bait. Robo worms are proven.

@Saavedra9 ^^^ the bottom one in @A-Jay photo (thanks).  I've heard them called so many different things, but I assumed a quick search for Biffle Head and you would find what I was talking about.

Also @A-Jay if you take one of @Siebert Outdoors Fogy (football style head with blade) no skirt just add a swimbait of your choice, you better hold on tight ?.

The swing head pictured (Top & Bottom) is the RPE Tackle Tungsten Swinging Football Jig Head.

It allows the hook to be replaced / changed as needed.

My favorite ways to power fish plastics are Texas rigging anywhere from 1/4 to 1¼ ounce weights along with a YUM Dinger, ZOOM Ol' Monster, or YUM Bad Mamma.

My favored finesse techniques are shakyhead, weightless, and drop shot.  I opt to use ZOOM Trick Worms for the jig, YUM Dingers or ZOOM Flukes for the EWG hooks, and YUM Kill Shots or ZOOM Flukes on the drop shot hook.

@A-Jay, I want to get into swinghead fishing as an alternative to crankbaits.  Are you swimming them or letting them bump bottom?

Once the boat comes down off of plane the first thing I grab is a Texas Rig.

I don't care if its grass, brush, timber, rocks, docks, pads, lay downs, shore line or off shore.

I don't care if its pre- spawn, spawn, post spawn, summer, dog days, fall, winter, morning, noon, or night.

I'm gonna be casting, flipping, pitching, punching, hopping, dragging, shaking, dead sticking, or skipping.

Always a bottom contact deal for me.

While a constant retrieve does produce at times, a stop & go deal has proven more effective for me.

The nuts & bolt of how I fish these baits can be found here ~

My favorite way to fish plastics is weightless and aggressive on top with Flukes, toads, & creatures.

When it is very tough, I'll bottom hop a lightly weighted Texas rigged Chigger Craw or finesse worm.

Posted

T-Rigged 5"Senko, on a Gammy EWG 3/0 or 4/0 hook and 1/16oz tungsten bullet weight, pinned by a bobber stop.

Soon to be adding a bead between the hook eye and bullet weight.
