Jack Czerwinski Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Recently made the switch on my finesse rig to hi-vis braid after reading a similar thread on here from 2017. What I did not see on that thread was a recommendation for the pound test people were using when doing this, so I bought some 10# Seaguar. Unfortunately, I quickly found out that it's so thin I still have trouble watching it on the water. I was wondering what line those of you who have gone the hi-vis route use on similar rigs. As far as fish seeing the line goes, I am using 10# fluoro for a leader, so I don't think it should be too much of an issue. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 I'm not a braid fan, but I've been using 8lb light green Sunline Xplasma with good results. 1 Quote
EWREX Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 i use 15lb hi vis yellow power pro braid to an 8-10lb leader of fluorocarbon. not an issue seeing the line 1 Quote
Steveo-1969 Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I'm using 10# and 15# Seaguar Smackdown Flash Green and the 10# can be hard to see because it's so thin. But I still think it's more visible than "non" hi-vis line. I don't worry about fish seeing the line. I tie on a leader for abrasion resistance and to make breaking off on a snag easier. 1 Quote
tander Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I use Power Pro Hi Vis yellow in 10# test, no problem seeing it. 1 Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Same as @tander and @EWREX, with yellow Power Pro, I can see the 10 or 15 lb test on my spinning setups. 1 Quote
Super User NHBull Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 I use a lot of Yellow, Pink and Orange in 10 and 15 #test. Orange stands out the best, but only by a weeeee bit 1 Quote
Super User JustJames Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 Seaguar smackdown? 10lb Seaguar is only .128mm diameter 10lb Sufix 832 is .20mm I have used quite a few different color, white red blue yellow and chartreuse PowerPro and Sufix832. Yellow seem to be the best. I also just got a new hi-vis copolymer line to try out, Izorline Platinum 6lb. I might put that on one of my spinning soon. Quote

Had it out once so far and quickly learned I will need a leader for abrasion resistance. As you said...not all that 'Hi-Vis' in that diameter. Being somewhat frugal, I will try to use it until it needs changing, but definitely will be going to a higher test line when it gets replaced. Which may be sooner than later. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 28, 2020 Global Moderator Posted April 28, 2020 I use the 20lb Flame Green Smackdown. I had the 10lb originally, but like you said, it's so thin I couldn't hardly see it. Quote
Zachary M Posted April 28, 2020 Posted April 28, 2020 I use Lime Green 10lb J Braid and 6lb Seaguar Inviz X. Ultimate finesse, my go to for Neds and shaky heads. Quote
