The Kangler Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Anyone tried these rods? I just ordered the 7’11” H for deep cranking but I can’t find much talk of these rods. They sound awesome if what St Croix says isn’t hype. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 I have the 7'2'' Med. I have been repeating this too often but it is the best crankbait rod I have ever used. If I could own all the rods in this line up, I would. Just a thought on the Heavy... If the Med. I own seems big and heavy, I can only I imagine what the Heavy is going to be like. I think the diameter on the one I have is about double the size of my G. Loomis IMX Heavy 844C. If you are planning on using this for big cranks and heavy lipless cranks, at 7'11 that rod should cast them a country mile. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted April 27, 2020 Global Moderator Posted April 27, 2020 I've got the 6' 10" MH and it's been a terrific cranking rod, almost makes me enjoy fishing them. Quote
Yumeya Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I have the 7'4" MH and love it. There is not many crankbaits this rod could not handle... Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted April 27, 2020 Super User Posted April 27, 2020 I have the 7'2" Heavy in the Mojo Bass Glass series. It felt a little heavy in the store, but it doesn't feel heavy at all in use on the water. The 7'11" might be different, I don't know. I know I love this 7'2". It has "authority." ? jj Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I don't have that one, mine is a 6'10 medium - moderate (that's what Cabelas had for $150, the other tapers were the normal $250+). It reminds me of the Lamiglas Skeet Reece glass rods. They're certainly heavier than a comparable graphite rod, but I don't mind it with the handle tucked under my arm. They seem to have the wall thickness thin, but the diameter of the blank is substantially greater than a graphite stick. They have a feel that some absolutely hate - I'd call it buttery, but I really like it, and the fish I have caught have stayed pinned really well. I was thinking of making the 7'4 MH my next purchase, when I looked at all the rods I never take out. I almost never take more than a couple crankbait setups, so I have so far held off. I do wonder if that rod would be good for 10XDs and the like. I tried a 6XD with mine, and that pulls a bit too hard for it (6'10 MM). Quote

If it will get me down to 20-25ft I’ll be happy. On 4/27/2020 at 5:25 AM, Yumeya said: I have the 7'4" MH and love it. There is not many crankbaits this rod could not handle... How deep will that one get you comfortably? Quote
Super User WRB Posted April 30, 2020 Super User Posted April 30, 2020 You ordered the rod so wait and try it out. 10XD's is big heavy crankbait and rod is made it. Tom Quote
