Hook color

I wanted some offset gammy worm hooks but they only had bronze in stock. I normally use the nickel black ones. Anyone see a big difference? I fish mostly stained water.

I have some shakey heads with zinc colored hooks, and they have caught fish, I don't that color makes a big difference, although, some guys swear that red gets better bites..

I used to only buy nickel colored hooks for years, but picked up a few packs of red owner worm hooks on sale a few years ago, same with the red horny toad hooks....I actually have not noticed any difference in hook color. I had a blue hook that came in a bag of plastics from Gander Mountain once, and it also worked just as well. Not sure color matters, Red may help at times for contrast. Bronze should be fine.

I don't know much bout black hooks or red hooks but I do know if I could go fishing with J Lo I'd dig the worms, put em on for her and clean the fish and I'd let her use my fav rod n reel! ?

Any chance you have one of her nodding yes??? ?

I have always used black or bronze hooks. I don't use red hooks at all. Once the finish wears off they are actually gold.

At least there's one honest angler - I know several people that use red trebles for everything and a few that use red worm hooks and each has a different explanation.  Kind of like all the bow hunters who buy fox pee to spread on their boots to go deer hunting.  I haven't heard the same explanation for that yet either.

FWIW, I once bought some red hooks because that's all that was left at the country store, and I couldn't see any difference.

Fish bite spinnerbaits with a huge wire in front and Alabama rigs with a massive wire frame, hook color doesn’t matter if you are presenting the bait the way they want

It doesn’t make any different at all but it look cool lol. BTW all my 2/0 hook is red 1/0 and 4/0 are nickel black, and it will stay this way as long as I can find 2/0 in red.

Agree Catt. Splitting hairs with this. Hook color doesn't make any difference to me.

Yeah, don't think hook color matters at all but looking cool and relevant goes a long ways. Lol

If I charted it out in a spread sheet maybe I would have seen a difference by now, but with just my basic senses so far I have not seen a difference between number of catches between red, black nickle, or bronze hooks.
