I usually throw a jerkbait on my 6’6 MH vendetta but since the water is a bit warmer now in Iowa, I don’t feel I need

to keep that jerkbait on.  The rod is pretty new to me so I’m looking for suggestions on what else would be good to throw on it at this point of the season.  Any help would be great to hear! Thanks!

What is your water temp - maybe a 6th Sense Curve 55 or Wiggle Wart?

Im Guessing water temps are anywhere from low to mid 50s.  Also, I should note that I’m fishing from shore.

not really sure if that makes a huge difference but maybe.

I live in Iowa, just a hair north of the Missouri border, and I'm a shorecaster. I've been catching bass on 2/5 oz. Dardevle spoons, 3/8 Bomber 14A twitchbaits and #5 Mepps Aglias.

No light colors; all dark colors.  All this is in lakes, no rivers.        jj

Pretty sure your vendetta is a 6'3 medium...same as mine. I think it is anyway.

You are correct now that I look at it. Guessing that might change some of the suggestions on here.

Considering the rod is 6'3", I would personally have a tad bit of difficulty setting a large single hook at distance.  If you want to do something besides through jerkbaits with it, a rod that short would be my choice for smaller poppers and walking baits.

I would target cast the tar out of them to cover.

Not that it makes much difference but I have a Jerkbait tied on year around.

I get tired of throwing them to but they keep producing.

Lipless cranks always come after jerkbaits IMO.

You could throw a lot of stuff on that, but since it’s shorter it would probably be good with twitching baits, like flukes or poppers or “walk the dog” topwaters.
