samwise2u Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 On the water 6:30 and off around 7:30. Stained to muddy water with temps between 68 - 72. Started off with a few clouds, went Blue Bird then finished with low cloud cover. It did not rain while on the lake but the trip home I hit a few showers. Ambient temp was low 60s to mid 70s. Started on main lake. Started at a community hole with no joy. After about 30 minutes and talking with another boat decided to go main lake and look for structure. Found some but saw no fish and the wind was picking up. There where other boats off shore doing the same. I think one of the boats was actually following an old road bed cause that is what my plan was. Heading out from the launch, in the Bayou, there was ripple on the water. Main lake there were swells. Weather report had said 5mph wind out of the south, they missed that one. There is no joy in 2' swells while in an 18' bass boat. Say what you like I looked for shelter. Found an island that provided a wind break. Fished the wind break where 1 fish was caught. Headed back to the Bayou coves after a couple of hours and the main lake was white capping. Slow and rough ride back. Caught 3 all on soft plastic, all between 2 - 3lbs. Threw different color plastics, crank baits, spinner baits and a chatter bait. 2 fish were caught in 3 - 4 fow on the bank and the other, this one made the trip worth it, in 10' - 12' fow about 100 yards offshore way up in the Bayou. It changed the way I think about fishing. There just might be something to this "Structure Fishing" after all. 3 Quote
