I'm going to get an inexpensive spinning rod (berkley lightning, NOT the shock) that I can use when I go on vacations to the lake for large mouth bass fishing.  I'll be fishing out of a jon boat mainly.  75% of the time I use a 7-inch worm with a 1/4oz weight.  The rest of the time I'll use this rod for top water, spinners, cranks, or jigs.  I'll only be using 8-10 lb monofilament line, so none of the baits will be too large and I normally don't fish in really heavy cover.  My options on the Berkley lightning rods that are available are a 6'6" Med power with Med-fast action, OR 7' Med power with Med-fast action, OR 7' MH power with extra fast action.  Of these three rods, which would be best for my needs?  Note:  I know there are better rods out there - I'll only be paying $20 for this lightning rod so that is the one I'm going to get.

Those rods are very good. I have used all 3 but got rid of the medium heavy. Too stiff for me.

The 7ft 2piece is still my favorite rod I've used. The 2 piece has slightly more backbone than a 1piece and a little more tip than the 6'6. The 7ft 2pc will be perfect for everything you listed. And you can pack it easily for vacations

Should be fine if you texpose* the hook instead of bury it in the plastic. But I would recommend braid than you will have no problem at all and will work better for jigs. And the braid should last you all year or even 2yrs. 15 lb Power Pro is what I would recommend and then using a uni to Uni knot with a 8 or 10 lb mono leader.

And the 2pc medium will set the hook good either way you go. The medium heavy is too stiff and it will not load up when you cast, not great for light lures or lighter Lb mono

I'm pretty sure any of them would work.  Me, I'd go with the 7' MH/ extra fast tip, just cause when I fish a "feel" presentation, like a worm, I like an extra fast tip.   I think that the rod would handle a quarter ounce weight & worm fine.  I'd start out with the worm pegged, so with 8 lb line be sure you buy the smaller size of bobber stops.

7' Medium would be more versatile IMHO for spinning- Go with a lighter wire hook for T-rigged.  3/0-5/0 Gamakatsu round bend worm hooks with a Berkely power worm are one of my all time go-to's. If you want to tex-pose then the lighter wire EWG hooks work well too.

I have a feeling that any of these will work fine. To me, the power on these rods seems a little bit light, but maybe that’s just in my head.

Not in your head at all. Also not sure if the mediums listed are moderate, but the medium moderate rod I have feels too soft for single hook lures. Braid might fix this, but you mentioned mono so I'd go with MH.

What size reel you get on these? I’m looking at ordering one. Looking at Daiwa Regal LT 2500.
