Pogues2300 Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Does anyone know of a carrying bag capable of holding 4 combos, 1 of them will be a spinning setup so that will require a bit more room at the handle end. Would like it to be at least 7'6". Haven't really had much like finding this online. Thanks Quote
CountryboyinDC Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I would try the Cal Coast Rod Mule https://calcoastfishing.com/collections/rod-accessories/products/rod-mule. It's $40, but you can probably carry 10 combos in it, even with rods in the sleeves. 4 is no problem, although the mid velcro wrap might not not tighten down enough. I use a trigger release zip tie there. Quote

But ever since Bass Pro bought them out they no longer make it. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Advanced-Anglers-Pro-Rod-Bags/732130.uts?productVariantId=1200273&avad=932_c1a58a7b1&WT.mc_id=al816&Subid1=SID&adname=datafeed&adtype=df&adid=NA&utm_medium=AFF&utm_source=816&rid=12&WT.tsrc=AFF It was replaced with this https://www.cabelas.com/product/boating/rod-holders-storage/fishing-rod-tubes-cases/pc/104794380/c/104763780/sc/104541480/bass-pro-extreme-combo-caddy/3057428.uts?slotId=2 I have a friend who uses this one from Dicks, he likes it https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/field-stream-pro-rod-bag-15fnsufsrdbg8ftxxfac/15fnsufsrdbg8ftxxfac Quote
txchaser Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 https://www.amazon.com/Guide-Gear-Five-Reel-Case/dp/B000F899O0/ I have this one and the Cal Coast one. They are both pretty good, cal coast carries more rods but you should probably use rod socks and reel covers with it if you don't want your stuff banged around. The one above is better if you are going to fish out of it - ie leave your rods in the bag except for the one you are using at the time... can't really do that with the cal coast. Quote

I have 2 of these and I am very happy with them. 5 individual compartments back by the reels each of them nicely padded with some kind of synthetic sheep wool fur. I haven't broken a single rod since I started using these to transport my rods. Tip...If you plan on putting them into a carpeted rod locker, you need to buy some 1 1/2" velcro to cover the strip that is sewn onto the tip that allows you to adjust the length. I didn't and it took me about 45 minutes to get it back out. Quote
Pogues2300 Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 I have 1 of them as well, with 4 broadcasters its great, but i want to hold 3 baitcaster and a spinning setup and you really have to force the zipper because of the spinning reel. Quote
kayaking_kev Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I got this one for $15 with free shipping from www.lakesidecollection.com on sale and it hold 5 combos on the outside but the inside is like a huge duffel bag and you could fit a lot more inside if you really wanted to, but there isn't any holders or straps on the inside. It also has a big pocket on the backside that a lot of people stick a chair in, or it could fit other supplies. The only downside is that it doesn't stand up by itself as shown in the pics unless you get a 8" concrete tube from Lowes and stick it inside to help form it. The bags are available from multiple brands, but they are the same bags. https://www.amazon.com/Allnice-Durable-Canvas-Fishing-Organizer/dp/B01AG0N9K6/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rod%2Bbag&qid=1587536757&sr=8-3&th=1 I also have the cal coast rod mule that I have put 10 combos in before. They are more minimalist bags that won't hold anything else, but it does look nicer than the bag above. One good thing about them, is when you have your combos with rod sleeves inside in it, you can just unbuckle the strap and slide whatever rod you want to use out of the sleeve and when you're done, slide it right back in the sleeve, without taking it all the way out of the bag. I find myself using the cheaper one more than the rod mule so far, especially for quicker trips and when I don't want to take more than 5 rods. Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 22, 2020 Super User Posted April 22, 2020 I have one - I remember I bought it at a local tackle shop - don't remember the name. It holds 5 rods comfortably, you can stuff 7 rigs is you're careful and don't zip the back all the way up. I was co-angling BFL at the time and the rod bag just made transporting stuff easier. Doesn't matter which style of rod bag you get, rod socks are necessary when transporting spinning gear. You might not get them all tangled without the rod socks, but the rod socks mean the vast majority of the time they won't get tangled. Quote
