J5877 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Any one have experience setting this up? I tried to set the reel up per instructions from shimano and the reel required a little thumbing then I set the reel up by putting more tension on With the spool tension knob and let the bait fall and then I was bombing baits with no issues! Wow what a impressive reel! Quote

Wow what a impressive reel! Every new baitcaster requires some tuning out of the box or if your casting on a windy day. I’m sure Shimano’s instructions were close to the settings you found after you tightened the spool tension. Many experienced anglers are able to get away with a looser spool and better thumb control. I’m still working on that... p.s. always wanted a SLX but I think my wife would make me sleep outside if I bought another casting reel. 1 Quote

J5877 Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 I had been fishing with a lews superduty so far no complaint with the slx Quote
