I have been a long time of Sufix 832 braid but am thinking I might like to try something new. Any suggestions? It probably would be the 40 or 50 pound variety. FYI I am not a fan of Power Pro or Spiderwire.

Well, like you I have been a fan of 832 for a long time. Still have a 1,200 yard bulk spool and about half of another one in 40 lb so I guess I will use it for a while. If I were to switch, I would give the Smackdown or Xplasma a try. In fact, I would have probably bought some if they were offered in bulk spools.

Godline is making me happy this year.  I use just about every brand though...

Fins Sling Braid. Colors don't run, very smooth/quiet. If I was going to try new braid it would be maxquatro. Somewhere I read some tests (maybe @aquaholik?) where it was really strong for the diameter. But because the sling braid is colorfast I expect I'll be working on these spools for a long time. I have it in 20, 30, and 50 LB test.

Power Pro is all I've ever used except for 50# Viscous on frog stick.

(raises his hand) Power Pro Original on all three rigs I'm using braid on this year. Hasn't given me issues the past years, and is relatively inexpensive...why change?

I've only ever tried spiderwire and power pro...liked the power pro so 65lb is on my frog rod. Only combo I use braid on. And yes I know I know I should use braid on spinning

Do you run braid to leader on your smackdown

? If so what's the lightest leader you'd tie to 50lb?

According to some people. I have 4 spinning rigs for the canoe and my 'spare' spinner in the truck for shore fishing. None of them have braid - 3 mono, 2 YZH. I don't feel the need for braid on spinners at all.

Smackdown in 40-50lb for open water but starting to prefer power pro maxcuatro 50-65lb for fishing around heavy cover/grass. I do wish they kept making smackdown in dark greeb

I've got Power Pro on 2 and Spider Wire on 1 and Berkley X5 on 1. The power pro is strong but a little rough. Spider wire is good for me all around, smooth, good casting, and strong. I actually just spooled up the X5 on a new combo and have tried it yet. I like the feel and smoothness of it. Plus I got hi vis and wow is it bright!!!

I ALWAYS use a leader with braid.  Mostly #12 Tatsu from "remnant" spools.  Otherwise AbrazX.

832 on the spinning rods and baitcasters.

I have a few bulk rolls of it and figure it should last a long time.

Berkley X9 50# is the first braid I've tried with more than 4 strands, and the smoothness of it is wowing me.  I'm sure there are comparable and perhaps better braids, but for 20 bones for 200 yards I think I just became a user.
